Tom & Drew Trendy Boys Clothes (Review & Giveaway)

Tom & Drew is a clothing line that lets boys be boys, in style! Tom & Drew provides a unique take on the all American boy. With extra pockets for rock collections to be stored, these are truly some cute and fashionable clothes for little boys!

My son, received a cute tee shirt from Tom & Drew. It is turquoise and has a shark on the front of it. I never thought to have my son wear turquoise, but it works with him! It is a thicker cotton tee shirt and fits him great. It seems it might run a bit bigger, but that is okay as it will shrink in the wash, and my boy grows so dang fast!

The Tom & Drew website seems to load a bit slow for me, but I think it is my computer. I have so much on my computer it needs to be cleaned up. The site was a bit confusing to me, I wish it were easier to navigate. Maybe have the pages not have to load so much and a tab that just says “shop now” would be great.

But all in all, the tee shirt is cute, my son is comfortable in it. It is tagless so that is a plus, as my son does not like tags. And of course my son it too cute in it :)

Don’t You LOVE It When Sponsors Don’t Send Out Prizes?

I did this review and giveaway back in June and selected a winner. the winner NEVER received her prize after NUMEROUS attempts to contact the PR Rep with the winners info. Oneida Entertaining Tips For the Fourth Of July!

Practically all my dishes here at my home are Oneida. Love the dishes and products that Oneida carries. They last forever and have such pretty styles to choose from.

With Fourth of July almost here (umm.. Monday?!), I thought you all might be interested in some entertaining tips for the fourth of July, from Oneida!

July 4th is a great time to celebrate our Nation’s Independence and invite friends and extended family over to share in the festivities and fireworks. You can start your party planning with red, white and blue tableware and a stars and stripes theme.

Looking for inspiration? Asheville Red Dinnerware (Shown above) or Asheville Denim can be mixed and matched with all-white Chefs Table. Chefs Table dinnerware, which is so versatile and comes in many exciting shapes and sizes. These patriotic patterns aren’t just for the Fourth. You can enjoy them year round too.  Plus, you can always mix up the look later in the season by incorporating another color with contrasting linens, candles and flowers. Do the unexpected…pair red plates with hot pink linens or denim dinnerware with bright yellow.  Contrast all white tableware with black linens. The possibilities are endless with these all-purpose patterns.

Start planning your menu ahead of time, buy what you can in advance. But, the day of the party, stock up on your fruits,veggies and breads, so they are fresh! This time of year is made for being laid back and having those delicious barbecues and pot luck dinners with friends and family!

Patriotic Party Tips from Oneida:

*Wrap a flower pots with a red or navy linen and tie with a contrasting ribbon. Plant a red or white geranium in each one. It’s a perfect party favor and patio decoration.

*Swap your regular placemats or napkins for red, white or blue fabric or better yet, bandanas for a cool, casual look.
Create “bouquets” out of sparklers and party decorations in a tall clear glass or short vase as a table centerpiece (or at each place setting) with a book of matches nearby.
*Freeze blueberries and raspberries on a cookie sheet. Use as ice cubes to keep drinks cold.
*Create great desserts by layering berries, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream in tall dessert glasses.
*Serve all-American foods such as corn on the cob, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, and apple pie.
*Play patriotic music during dinner like the star-spangled banner, America the Beautiful and I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy.
*Set up backyard games like croquet, badminton, jump ropes and capture the flag.
*Make sure to fly your American flag appropriately. Check out the flag etiquette link below.
*If lighting fireworks, make sure there are plenty of fire extinguishers nearby and check with your local authorities for rules and regulations.

Apple Pie, The Great American Tradition

A delicious Apple Pie for Anytime of the year!
Ingredients
  • Dough
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 2/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 4-6 Tablespoons cold water
  • Pie Filling
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1/4 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 8 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (about 8 medium)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
  1. Making the pastry…
  2. Mix 2 cups flour and 1 tsp. salt. Cut in shortening with two knives until particles are the size of small peas. Sprinkle with cold water 1 tablespoon at a time, turning with fork until all flour is moistened. You can add 1-2 teaspoons more water if needed.
  3. Form pastry into ball with clean hands. Divide in half. Shape into 2 flattened rounds on lightly floured surface. Wrap in plastic wrap, refrigerate for about 1 hour until dough is firm and cold, yet pliable. This allows the shortening to become slightly firm and more flaky.
  4. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Flour rolling pin and roll one pastry round into glass pie plate 2 inches larger than upside down 9-inch plate. Fold pastry into fourths, place in pie plate. Unfold and ease into flap, pressing firmly against bottom and sides.
  5. In a large bowl, mix sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Add apples and mix until well coated. Spoon into pastry-lined pie plate. Cut butter into small pieces and sprinkle over apple filling. Trim overhanging edge of pastry 1/2 inch from rim of pie plate.
  6. Roll other round of pastry into 10-inch round. Fold into fourths and cut slits so steam can escape. Unfold top pastry over filling, trim overhanging edge 1 inch from pie plate. Fold and roll top edge under lower edge, pressing on rim to seal. Flute with fork as desired. Cover edges/rim of pie with 2 inch foil strips to prevent over browning of crust.
  7. Bake 40-50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble up through slits in crust. Remove foil strips last 15 minutes of baking. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Mattel’s New Cars 2 Toy Line Is Here! (Review & Giveaway!)

We have always loved Mattel in this house! Heck, I loved them as a child! Mattel has a new Cars 2 Toy line out, and boy is it cool!

We received the Cars 2 Secret Spy Attack Finn McMissile to review and try out. My son was so excited it was so cute! When he opened up that Mattel box (oh how we love receiving those!), his little eyes lit up so big! This car is a fully loaded car with top-secret spy weapons, including firing missiles, sound effects and thrilling transformations!! I really liked that this came with the batteries! So much more helpful when they don’t!

With a push of the hood on the car, missiles will pop up from under the hood and you can pop the little missiles into them and squeeze the sides of the missile launchers for some great fun!! You can also press the back bumper and up pops up a middle missile that you can again, pop in the missile and fire away! Also when you press down on the back bumper, Finn McMissile‘s eye protectors pop out and go over his eyes to protect them! Too much fun! He also makes sounds and talks. My little boy and girl both love playing with this. It is a big sized car too, not a dinky little car. It seems durable so far and nothing has broken, so so far so good!

CLIF Kids Crispy Zbar Review & 2 Giveaways!

CLIF Kid is super excited  that their Zbar Crispy Snacks are available in natural food and grocery stores nationwide!! Woot!

The Zbar Crispy is an organic crispy rice snack that offers 8 grams of whole grains. CLIF Kids added toasted oats to keep kids feeling fuller and more balanced. Zbar Crispy also offers more calcium, iron, zinc and vitamin D, then most all-family snack bars. And, it only has 110 calories!! Great treat for between meals!

The Zbar Crispy comes in 3 absolutely delicious flavors: Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter (My favorite!!!). These CLIF Zbar Crispys are perfect for throwing in your bag and for on the go. They remind me of a rice crispy bar, especially the peanut butter ones, YUM! They taste really good and satisfy me for a while in between meals. My kids are not too into them, because they “have things in them” LOL. They are soooo particular and are at a stage where they don’t like feeling different textures in their mouths when they eat. But, me and hubby love them.

My kids did however love, the CLIF Kid Zfruit. These are GOOD. Very tasty and they come wrapped in a wrapper and when you take them out, they kind of remind me of a licorice rope, that is how it is shaped. It is very soft and easily eaten without all the chewing.

We also received a really cute poster/growing chart and pen so that I can measure how big my babies are getting!
