I remember when they put $1 bills in boxes of Cheerios. It was like 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 wins or something, but I thought it was so cool as a kid!

I just miss when they put cool toys in the cereal boxes! Getting a box of cereal was like going to the toy store!

I remember finding My Little Ponies and Rainbow bright toys in the box! No redemption required ;)

As a child, it was always fun to see the commercials and hear a man say "look for specially marked boxes of *cereal name* for a prize! And back then the prize was in the cereal. Not wrapped in plastic separately.

I mainly remember begging for cereal with prizes at the store and my mom telling me that we don't buy cereal for the prize.

22. Robin  |  my website   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:06PM

I liked Lucky Charms.

24. Cat @ 3 Kids and Us  |  my website   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:10PM

My favorite cereal prize was a color changing spoon. It changed depending on the temperature of the liquid. In fact, I think it came out of a Trix box.

25. Cat @ 3 Kids and Us  |  my website   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:11PM

The old box has a lighter background with O's in in. The new one is brighter and more crisp.

26. Kim   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:21PM

Lucky Charms were a SPECIAL treat in our house growing up!!!

27. Loresa Jorgenson   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:33PM

Lucky Charms was & still is my favorite cereal!

28. Loresa Jorgenson   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:37PM

The General Mills logo is different, The font that Cheerios is written in is different, There are cheerios on the background on one of the boxes.

29. Loresa Jorgenson   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 02:38PM

Favorite memory is of course the prizes in the boxes of cereals. My sisters & I used to fight over who would get it so my mom would always take it out before we could find it!

30. pixie13   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 03:49PM

The last surprise I got in a box of cereal was color-changing markers. They were really neat. And, my jelly belly jelly bean addiction started from a sample of Jelly Belly jelly beans in a box of cereal!

I remember once I sent in the cut out in the box to the company and got a Tony the Tiger hat. LOL. Now I save these toys that come with the cereal as stocking stuffers or decorations for gifts.

33. erin  |  my website   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 04:19PM

The box has a different shaped bowl, the moose is on one box and there are cheerios falling to make the dot on the "i" instead of just one cheerio.

34. Boris  |  my website   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 07:33PM

I had three siblings so it was always a fight to see who got the prize first. I remember dumping many boxes of cereal into a bowl just to get the prize buried at the bottom. I recall those submarines you filled with baking soda and they'd submerge then rise.

My favorite other food promo was Disneykins - tiny disney character figures you got from Jello Pudding!

35. Lethea Benson   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 08:44PM

I just remember really hoping that my Mom would get a box of cereal that had a prize inside that my brothers would consider too "girlie" for them~victory!!!!

36. anthy   |   Mon Feb 15, 2010 @ 10:29PM

I'm having a hard time thinking of a specific memory (younger child, so didn't have to fight for the cereal box prize), but I really loved the "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!" commercials as a kid. And "Coco for Cocoa Puffs!"

Thank you for the giveaway!

Cereal box difference #1: first box has a white V on the top, and second has a blue band.

Cereal box difference #2: there is a moose on the first box! A moose which is not on the second box! (is that the moose from that cartoon with the squirrel?)

Commenting again about my favorite cereal as a kid - Lucky Charms. entry #2! Since I'm not sure if you're using random.org for this.

(I loved the marshmallows; I used to eat them first. Come to think of it, that could be my childhood cereal memory, too.)
