HALO Safe Sleep Crib Set Review

Do you have a little one or are expecting a little one soon and want to create a beautiful and safe nursery for them? When you have a little one all you do is worry! I know this first hand! And, keeping them safe is a number one priority. Now you can have baby’s nursery safe, with HALO Safe Sleep Crib Set.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and leading safety organizations warn us against the use of soft, loose bedding and bumpers in cribs. Even co-sleeping is a no-no (though I did it and would do it again, but that is MY way :) ). The HALO Safe Sleep Crib Set is a unique five-piece Safe Sleep Crib Set that contains only those things your baby needs to sleep safe and sound from the start!

Set Includes:

Coordinating HALO SleepSack wearable blanket

SleepSack Swaddle: Includes 2-in-1 adjustable SleepSack Swaddle that allows for swaddling arms in or arms out to ensure an easy transition to the SleepSack wearable blanket when it’s time to stop swaddling. 100% cotton. Size newborn fits 6-12 lbs.

Two soft 100% cotton jersey fitted crib sheets

Matching decorative skirt

The HALO SleepSack is the #1 choice of hospitals and parents and is used by hundreds of hospitals nationwide and a portion of every sale goes to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and the Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.

I received a sample to review. Yes, it is true I don’t have a newborn, sigh, but I will just have to put it away for when I do..

Anyways, the sleep set is way too cute. It is not only soft and comfy feeling, but I would definitely feel confident using it in my baby’s crib and having my baby wear the soft and cozy wearable blanket. Everything is quality made and knowing my baby would be safe or more safe than they would be using the normal everyday nursery bedding, would make me feel less nervous. The set comes in six patterns including pink, blue and neutral tones.

You can purchase the HALO Safe Sleep Crib Set online at Amazon.com and Babies R Us. They retail for around $109.

War Horse Review And Giveaway!

CONTEST OVER! CONGRATS TO

Denise Taylor-Dennis #482!!

I first have to say, that I was not really interested in watching this movies, at all. But, I was curious, because of all of the rave reviews on it. So, when I was asked if I wanted to review this movie, I said I would.

It arrived last week and I popped it into the DVD player. I watched the whole thing and LOVED it. Not only was the countryside absolutely gorgeous in this movie but the movie itself was so good.

Small Frame:

About The Movie:

This is from legendary director Steven Spielberg and is about the epic adventure a tale of incredible loyalty, hope, and tenacity. Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway play, and set against the sweeping canvas of World War I, this deeply heartfelt story begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and his young trainer Albert. When they’re forced apart by war, we follow Joey’s extraordinary journey as he changes and inspires the lives of everyone he meets. Filled with spectacularly rich visuals — and complete with never-before-seen bonus features — War Horse is a “Genuine movie masterpiece,” (Rex Reed, The New York Observer) and one of the most powerful and moving stories of friendship ever told.

So, as you can see, above, this movie is just so good. It is powerful and inspiring. The friendship of the horse, Joey and Albert is so sweet!

Some War Horse Facts:

Interview with Jeremy Irvine:

Q: War Horse is your first film. That’s an incredible way to start…
A: I’m just proud to be a part of it. Just to have lines in a movie, any movie, is
ridiculous and to be in a Steven Spielberg movie is beyond my wildest dreams. It’s
something I never even contemplated. Even when I was auditioning I never dreamed
I would get the role, as far as I was concerned it was just good audition experience.
Q: How long did that go on for?
A: I think it was about two months.
Q: And you kept getting closer and closer…
A: Well, I didn’t know that. At no point did I allow myself to think that I was getting
close to landing the part, I just thought it was great experience – meeting with one ofthe biggest casting directors in the UK and the chance to meet Steven Spielberg
and that was all I ever thought about.
Q: When and where was that first meeting with Steven?
A: Very late in the process, it was just before I was offered the job. We had tea in
Claridges Hotel in London. I got a phone call one night saying ‘can you meet Steven
Spielberg for tea tomorrow morning?’ And as you can imagine I didn’t sleep much
that night.
Q: What was that first meeting like? Were you nervous?
A: Oh yes, but within five minutes of being in a room with Steven he puts you
completely at ease. It’s one of his greatest skills as a director because he makes
the actors feel so comfortable. It would have been very easy for me to get very
overwhelmed and he was very careful to make me feel as comfortable as possible
and when you’re feeling comfortable you do your best work.
Q: Did you find out that you had the role at that meeting with Steven?
A: I never ever even thought about it. I would phone my agent after each audition and
say ‘that was a great experience…’ but we never once said ‘we might be getting
close here..’ It just wasn’t on the cards. You know, I wasn’t even getting called back
for commercials so why would I get a Steven Spielberg movie? It was really bizarre.

Q: And who did you call first to share the news with?
A: Well, that’s the thing, I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone. The casting director said to
my agent ‘we’d like Jeremy to keep it to himself..’ and when you are offered a
chance like this it’s amazing how easy that is. So I didn’t tell my parents for a good
three weeks. In fact, I didn’t tell anyone.Q: But you must have been desperate to share the news?

Q: Did you know how to ride before the film?
A: No, I’d never ridden before. I never had anything to do with horses before so I had to learn quite quickly. I was a little bit skeptical before when people talked about howthey had these close relationships with animals because I wasn’t a huge animalperson before but within a week I was besotted with the horses like everyone else. They are incredibly human with their emotions. They are huge, powerful animals and they are not going to do anything that they don’t want to do so you have to have a relationship with them. You can’t fake relationships with horses. And when you are on screen those relationships have to be real – there’s nowhere to hide in that close up. So I spent two months building relationships with the 14 horses that played Joey and I made sure that every relationship was real and the hours spent training with them, getting to know them, paid off and, by the end of it, hopefully what you see on the screen are real, genuine relationships with those horses. The thing is, to state the obvious, a horse doesn’t know that it’s acting so it’s never going to be fake, it’s always going to be real. And as an actor that’s great to work with but you can’t come into a scene with set ideas of how the scene is going to go because the horse is probably going to have other ideas and you have to work with that. There is no point trying to go against it, you have to work with the horse and be fluid and move with the animal.

Q: But how would you sum up the film?
A: I think it’s a very powerful anti-war film for people for all ages. I think it’s so
impressive that he has made this anti-war film and that children can understand itsmessage. There is no blood and guts to get distracted by but when you see the cavalry charge and the machine guns start firing and suddenly most of the horses don’t have riders on their backs anymore and the camera pans up and you see a whole field of dead horses. That’s so powerful because it leaves something to the audience’s imagination. I think that Steven brings out those themes in a way that is so clever. Iremember going to the premier in New York and the film was ending and there were all these tough New York guys all around me and they were all welling up with tears in their eyes. Everyone knows that this is a film, we’re working from a script, it’s actors and it’s not real and there’s a cameraman and a sound guy and yet it can still move people to tears and I think that says everything. That’s one of the reasons I got into acting and that’s the power that an amazing director like Steven
has. War Horse harks back to the golden age of Hollywood. It’s ambitious filmmaking and only a director like Steven Spielberg can pull that off. Who else could do that?

Q: And a film like this is a game changer for you isn’t it?
A: It’s an incredible opportunity. I’ve got my next film, Now Is Good, with Dakota
Fanning, coming out in May. And I’m about to go on to a film called The Railway
Man. It’s an incredible story and I play a wonderful guy called Eric Lomax, who is still
alive and Colin Firth plays Eric as an older man. One of the best things that has
come out of War Horse is first of all I can get work (laughs) and mostly I can almost
choose my work and choose the things I’m passionate about. I’ve been allowed to
do three movies that I’m really passionate about and that’s the greatest gift that any
actor can ask for.

Summer produce flourishes with Whitney Farms Plant Food

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Whitney Farms for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Summer is a great time to plant produce.  I will be planting tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and more during this amazing season.  My family loves fresh produce in our recipes but they especially love the taste of organic vegetables. As we try to become healthier in our eating habits, organic is definitely the way to go. That’s where organic soil comes in handy.  I love Whitney Farms®!

Whitney Farms is more beneficial versus regular soil as it adds natural and organic matter to the soil.  Your plants and produce will grow faster, healthier and organic.  You can use it on vegetables, flowers, trees and more.  My favorite is definitely the organic plant food.  It feeds your plants with protein based nitrogen and not heavy manure.  The organic plant food helps enhance our natural plant food by assisting in the breakdown of organic matter into nutrients.  The protein based blends are specifically designed to provide your plants with both macro and micronutrients they need to grow and thrive.  What better to use on your garden?

As I’ve seen many people use Whitney Farms organic plant food, I expect my tomato garden to look similar to this:

I plan to start my garden in mid May.  Start your garden too with Whitney Farms.  They are offering a $3 coupon on their website.  Just click on any of the links above to claim yours!

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff by Richard Carlson

In 1997 a little book broke new ground and would go on to become one of the most read—and beloved–books of its decade.

DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF by Richard Carlson was # 1 on USA TODAY’s bestseller list for two years running and spent over 100 consecutive weeks on The New York Times’ bestseller list. A series of thirty books followed over the years, all bestsellers, focusing on various aspects of life and aimed at all kinds of audiences reaching over 26 million people around the world.

One book though was never written: the one for moms.

Kristine Carlson, Richard Carlson’s wife and author of some of the series’ books as well as her own bestselling An Hour to Live, An Hour To Love: The True Story of the Best Gift Ever Given is changing that this year, revitalizing one of the bestselling series of all time with DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF FOR MOMS. It has been nine years since a book in this series has been published and a lot has changed: the economy has thrown families into disarray, parenting advice has become akin to an extreme sport, and Kristine knows all too well that most moms are caught in what too often feels like competing desires to do well by their kids and find some balance in their own lives.

Carlson’s generous spirit fills this book with the kind of grace and humor that comes with hard-won experience. Steeped deeply in the same philosophy as her late husband Dr. Richard Carlson’s work, she nonetheless adds her own distinct voice and understanding about how tough it is to keep clear on what is important and how to communicate that to one’s children (or self). Her basic message for moms is that parenting is a part of a continuum in a whole life, limited in its time, and precious in what it brings in its turbulent wake: opportunities to see life in a new perspective, to be able to offer compassion and wisdom to both one’s children and oneself, and joy even amidst the chaos.

Carlson inspires as well as provides practical hands-on advice and the kind of strategic long-view that comes from having lived through it all—from new parent to a parent of grown children.

I’m proud to be a Don’t Sweat Mom and you can be one too! You’re invited to join a community of moms coming together to stress less & choose happiness more. You can also order the book here: www.dontsweatmoms.com Check out the book trailer http://bit.ly/dontsweattrailer

Keep America Beautiful With Glad Black Bags

Messes are just a part of everyday life. I know they are a big part of my life. What I hate more than cleaning up a huge mess is cleaning up a huge mess created by flimsy trash bags. I don’t have to do that anymore because now I use the Glad Black Bags. Not only are they good for holding the trash of my everyday messes but they are also a life saver when it comes to storing clothes, toys and just about anything.

Glad Black Bags are large, tough and dependable. They feature convenient easy-to-seal closures, so what goes in stays in. Glad ForceFlex bag’s diamond texture stretches to prevent rips and tears. They are available in drawstring (my favorite) and quick-tie closures.

Not only does Glad care about cleaning up messes at home but Glad also cares deeply about keeping our communities clean and turning would-be trash into beautiful treasures. Glad Black Bag has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful to find new ways to re-use trash from Great American Clean-Ups across the country. Whether it is a Keep America Beautiful (KAB) Great American Cleanup event or turning trash into art, Glad® Black Bag is celebrating life’s wild moments and making sure that no matter the mess left behind cleanups are in the bag.

Glad Black Bag has partnered with the Picker Sisters, interior designers Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen, to celebrate and clean-up life’s wild moments and then find incredible and smart ways to reuse the trash. The Picker Sisters have built their business on the belief that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Along the way, they discovered that some of the best finds are the “remnants” of life’s wild moments. Things that are created for or broken in our biggest celebrations can be repurposed in new ways that honor the memory, but create great style.

Celebrated mosaic artist Jason Mecier will create four works of art utilizing people’s trash or “wild life remnants,” including items collected during GACs from across the country, as well as items donated by celebrities, such as Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Raphael Sbarge (Once Upon A Time) and Nathan Kress (iCarly). These works of art will be auctioned off during the Glad® Black Bag art auction on eBay for consumers to bid on, from April 16 through April 26, with proceeds benefiting KAB’s Great America Cleanup.

While I am not talented in making art out of trash, I do admire the beauty that has came about from Jason Mecier’s creations. The Picker Sisters and Jason Mecier have such great talent and I love that they are using it by recycling would-be trash.

If you appreciate the efforts of Glad and the works of art created out of trash, please support Glad in their commitment to Keep America Beautiful (KAB). The art auction supports KAB whose mission is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments. Visit www.ebay.com/gladartauction today to bid on your favorite!

Please visit Keep America Beautiful to find details on a Great American Clean-up event in your area.

Niveas Latest Products (Review And Giveaway)

CONTEST OVER! CONGRATS TO

LaTanya Thornhill #880!!

I have been using Nivea for a long time. Ever since I was a teenager, as still use it daily. I love the way it makes my skin feel. My favorite lotion is the Nivea Skin Firming Body Lotion with Q10, LOVE that stuff!!!

I received some products from Nivea to try out. These are Niveas latest products, so I was pretty happy to give them a try. I was sent the Extended Moisture Daily Lotion and Touch of Renewal Lathering Body Scrub for me and the Nivea Relax Body Wash and Face Care Gel Moisturizer for my hubby :)

My hubby always feels pampered when nice things such as these, come for him to review :) Sure he is a guy, but he still likes to be clean and smell nice (I prefer it too...).

First we will talk about what I received! The lotion is just fabulous. It is sooooo nice on my skin. There is just something about Nivea lotions, that just make my skin come alive. It absorbs quickly into my skin, but almost feels like it leaves a thin, protective layer on my skin, so that it is soooo soft. The lotion smells really good too. So my skin is soft and smells nice, my hubby likes this and he likes how soft my skin is. The Touch of Renewal Lathering Body Scrub is awesome. It has little scrubbers in it and also has bigger beads in it with moisturizer in them. I use it all over my body. It polishes off the dead skin cells and leaves my body feeling so good! No need for a loofah when you use this stuff. I just put it onto my hands, rub hands together and smooth on my skin in circular motions to slough off those dead skin cells. Then I rinse it off, that is it! If I take a bath and use this, I will stand up and rinse off with a shower as the little scrubbers linger on you if you don’t do that. This also smells great and I am very happy with it!!

Hubby’s Products…

Hubby said he likes the Nivea Relax Body Wash. Since he works swing shift, having this body wash to use, after his long day at work is nice.  He likes that it is a 3-in-1 body wash. You can use it on your skin, hair and face. It also has little micro particals in it, for exfoliating softly, leaving his skin soft and smooth. He also said he likes the scent of it (and so do I!!!) Very nice smelling ;) The  Face Care Gel Moisturizer he likes too. He never uses moisturizers on  his face (do guys??), but he tried this for me :) His face looks dry sometimes, so when he used this, he liked how it felt on his skin. Since he sweats a lot at work, he did not want something that was thick or sticky. This facial gel moisturizer is not heavy or sticky. It also has no greasy residue which he liked too. This is fast absorbing  and alcohol free. It is enriched with Chamomile extract and Aloe Vera to gently care for his skin. It also smooths and helps to prevent any irritations on his face. He uses this at night (when he remembers!). And the scent is soo clean smelling and masculine :) Me LIKE!!!! Did I mention I LOVE to use this on my face too? Well, I do…

Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler Review And Giveaway

CONTEST OVER! CONGRATS TO

Patricia Wojnar Crowley #395!!

I have always been a pretty big fan of the Rubbermaid products. They have been around for quite a while and I have always used them.

I was sent the Hidden Recycler to review. Since we are starting to recycle around our home, more and more, this was exciting for us! The Hidden Recycler can be hooked onto your cupboard door easily, and you can throw in your plastics or whatever it is you recycle. You can have it on the outside of your cupboard or inside. Even though it is made to be hidden inside your cupboard, hence the name ;)   This is to collect recyclables and keep them out of sight and keeps your counters clear! My counters tend to get a bit crowded, so this was the best option for me.

The bag is durable and very strong feeling and is made from 65% post-consumer resin. I like that it is machine washable, that saves me time and headaches! The bag is a 5 gallon bag that holds 36 uncrushed cans and is large enough to fit 1 gallon milk jugs. When the bag is full, you can easily lift it from the lid and bring it to your recycle bin. Easy peasy.
