That is right! May is “Get Caught Reading” Month!!! Woot! We love reading at my house and do every night before bed. We also really like Dinosaur Train, so we were excited to review some great books from Dinosaur Train!
Get Caught Reading
Dinosaur’s Train, Buddy and Sid The Science Kid’s Sid, are participating for the first time, this year, in May’s “Get Caught Reading Month”. This is organized by the Association of American Publishers as part of its annual nationwide campaign devised to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read.
As part of the campaign, both Buddy and Sid are depicted “caught reading” in posters made available to teachers and parents for use in classrooms, libraries and other locations. According to the Association of American Publishers, research indicates that early language experience actually stimulates a child’s brain to grow and that reading to children gives them a huge advantage when they start school.
That is why I read to my kids every night and every chance I get! Members of the association hope to encourage people of all ages to enjoy books and magazines and to share that pleasure with the young children in their lives. The “Buddy” and “Sid” posters will be available at http://www.getcaughtreading.org
To order the posters, just visit Get Caught Reading. All posters are free, with a $5.00 per set charge for shipping & handling, whether you order one poster or 12.
My kids received three great Dinosaur Train books and they love them. The first night we got them, I had to read all the books twice because my kids loved them so much. They are educational, fun and the pictures are so bright and cheery and cute!

*Tiny Learns to Fish: The first reader in the Dinosaur Train program follows Mr. Pteranodon as he takes the kids to the big pond to teach them how to fish. There’s just one problem. We read EVERY night in this house, so much so that my four year old has started trying to read himself! I am so happy to see his love of reading! My 8 yr old is advanced in reading among other subjects and I can only think because I have always made books an important & fun part of our lives is why!
