I recently had the chance to sample some rum cakes from Tortuga Rum Cakes. They arrived quickly and were packaged well, not squished up. I received three sample-sized cakes to try.
Tortuga Rum Cakes Review
They were individually packaged in their own boxes with little sealed bags and very fresh and moist when I opened them up. I was impressed at how moist they were! I really like the Florida Keylime Rum Cake that we received.
It was one of my favorites. I liked the taste of it, limey, and I could taste the rum in it, yum! I think these cakes have a bit more rum flavor than others I have tasted before.
My husband did not care for them. He said he did not like the taste of them, but I really enjoyed them. They are very sweet too.
I think these would be great for the holidays that are coming up. They are somewhat affordable and very delicious to me. Not only do they have rum cakes, but also many other things such as:
Chocolate treats
Gourmet Coffees
Sauces, Honey, Jelly, Juices & Soups
Cookbook & CDs
Gift Items & Collectibles
Cake of the Month Club and more!
Not a boring site, that is for sure. Something for just about everyone on your holiday list.
A bit about Tortuga Rums (taken off their site):
Founded in 1984, Tortuga Rum Company has grown to become the largest duty-free liquor business in the Cayman Islands.
Husband and wife team Robert and Carlene Hamaty, started the company while they were both employed by the island’s national airline, Cayman Airways. Robert was a captain (previously for Air Jamaica) and Carlene was an in-flight supervisor.
While piloting for Air Jamaica, Robert noticed passengers boarding his plane carrying Bermuda Rum. Realizing Bermuda did not have the resources to distill their own rum, he investigated, only to discover that it was actually made in Jamaica, and shipped to Bermuda to be bottled.
That was when he decided the Cayman Islands should have their own rum too, and the idea of Tortuga Rum culminated. They started the company with two blended rums, Tortuga Gold and Tortuga Light.
Tortuga Rum is a combination of Jamaican Rum and Barbados Rum specially blended for the Cayman Islands; therefore it is like no other.
