A place they can play with their toys, practice their new skills, and have plenty of room to move around safely. I am pretty sure I found something that does all that and more. So, first of all, this Montessori-style playpen is gorgeous! I love the natural, smooth wood, the cute little activity toys built right into the panels, and how sturdy the whole thing is.
It’s one of those baby products that is not only obviously useful but looks really nice in your home, too! And the cute little boy who comes over once in a while?
He really enjoys his new playpen! He has room to scoot around, roll, play with toys, and explore! Now we don’t have to have anxiety about where he is crawling to next! Yay!!!

The ZETY Wooden Activity Playpen is made from natural, paint-free pine wood and comes with eight panels that connect to create a roomy play area for your baby.
When assembled into a square, it measures 63 x 63 inches and stands 24 inches tall. That’s a really nice amount of space for a little one to crawl, play, and practice standing!
One of my favorite things about this playpen is how well-made it is. The wood is smooth, the panels feel strong, and the entire playpen is VERY sturdy! Nothing about it felt flimsy or cheaply made. It’s solid and strong.

I know that putting together baby products can sometimes be a complete nightmare. All those tiny screws, confusing instructions, and missing tools? No, thank you! Thankfully, that was NOT the case with this playpen!
The ZETY playpen doesn’t require any tools to assemble. The eight wooden panels connect using reinforced nylon pop-button connectors that snap together.
It took us around 40 minutes or so to get everything assembled and ready to use. And hey, we were babysitting at the same time, so I think we did pretty good! The process was simple and straightforward.
Another neat feature is that you can adjust the panels to create different layouts. You don’t have to stick with a traditional square. So, depending on your room size and how you arrange the panels, you can create other configurations to better fit your space.
It also has a door that you can open and walk in easily and reclose it behind you. No need to try and climb over the top of the playpen and injure yourself doing it (true story!) And, it locks into place so baby can’t reopen it! Yay! So that is another feature that deserves a quick mention.
Oh, and when you’re not using the 8 Panel Foldable Play Yard, it folds flat for storage (make sure to take out the mat first, lol)! I LOVE that because baby gear and baby toys can literally take over your house pretty quickly!

Built-In Montessori-style Activity Toys
This Montessori-style playpen is a little different from others I’ve seen or have had. It has adorable geometric wooden activity toys built right into some of the wooden panels!
These little toys give babies something fun to reach for, touch, and explore while they’re playing inside their playpen (or outside of it!). I really enjoyed checking out these features because the toys move so smoothly!
They’re not stiff or difficult to move around. The pieces glide nicely, making it easy for little hands to play with them. It’s such a cute little addition to an already beautiful playpen!

The Matching ZETY Geometry Play Mat Is a Must-Have
The ZETY Geometry Play Mat can come with this playpen OR you can purchase it separately. It is designed specifically to fit inside the 8-panel wooden playpen.
The mat sits neatly inside the wooden panels without leaving a big gap around the edges (I hate that!). The mat can also help keep the playpen from sliding around on hardwood or tile floors. It measures 61 x 61 inches and has 1.5 inches of high-density foam padding.
We all know that when babies are learning to sit up, crawl, scoot, and pull themselves up, there are going to be plenty of little tumbles along the way! Having a nicely padded play area is such a great addition and gives parents that much needed extra peace of mind.
One of my favorite things about the ZETY play mat is that it comes with a zippered PU leather cover. The cover is waterproof, which makes everyday cleanup really simple.
So if something gets on the mat, you can quickly wipe it down with a damp cloth. I really liked that because babies can be SO messy and having something that’s easy to clean is SO important!
And when it needs more than a wipe down, you can just unzip the cover, remove it, and wash it according to the care instructions. How convenient is that? So dang convenient! The cover is also nice-looking, and I like that it keeps the foam mat protected.
ZETY mentions that the foam mat can take up to 72 hours to fully expand and reach its intended thickness. So we left it out for a bit before we put the zip up case on it and put it in the playpen. But, ours puffed up rather quickly.
We didn’t have any problems with it, and once we had the mat in place with its cover on, it looked fantastic inside the playpen. The playpen and mat really do look so nice together!
Oh yeah, another thing I wanted to mention (before I forget again, sigh), is that when we took the play mat out of the box and opened it, there were no weird or unpleasant smells. I’ve had foam products before that had a strong odor when first opened, so I was happy that wasn’t an issue with this one!
Is the ZETY Wooden Activity Playpen Safe?
Safety is always something I want to know about when it comes to products for babies and young children. And according to ZETY, their wooden activity playpen has been independently tested to ASTM F1004 / 16 CFR 1239 standards.
The company also states that its products undergo testing at independent, CPSC-accepted laboratories, with safety test reports available on its website! The playpen has approximately 2 3/8 inches of spacing between the wooden slats, and the panels are 24 inches tall.
ZETY recommends the playpen for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old. However, you should stop using it once your child can climb out or reaches 35 inches tall, whichever happens first. And please remember, this wooden playpen is designed to be a supervised play area, not a sleeping space or a place to put your little ones unattended while you go grocery shopping (duh!). But, it must be said because there will ALWAYS be that one person who just doesn’t have common sense.🤷♀️

Can You Make the ZETY Playpen Bigger?
Okay, another feature I appreciate is that ZETY offers expansion sets if you decide you need more space later. You can purchase additional panels to expand your playpen as your little one grows, their needs change, or they just want to invite over some of their friends!
They also have a larger 10-panel version for an even bigger play area. But for the little guy that we watch, the 8-panel version has been wonderful! He has so much room to move around, play, and explore.
Assembly was incredibly easy, even with me babysitting at the same time! And the matching play mat? I wouldn’t want the playpen without it! The thick foam padding, durable design, and removable waterproof cover make it such a wonderful addition.
