If you are looking for a vacation that will also include an amazing festival with countless opportunities for shows and events, then you should visit Edinburgh, Scotland in August during the Festival Fringe (https://www.edfringe.com). In 2014 there were 49,497 performances of 3,193 shows in 299 venues, making it the largest ever arts festival in the world!
The festival includes shows that cater to every taste, from big name performers to people just starting out their careers. You can see theater, comedy, dance, circus, children’s shows, operas, and many more.
I would recommend buying your flight, hotel and accommodation as much in advance as possible, as the festival is very popular. Tickets into Edinburgh can be very expensive, so you could also fly into London and take the train from London Heathrow to Edinburgh Waverly.
I would rent a room for a local person, that way you get more of a cultural experience. Try Airbnb, Gumtree or Citylets for rooms. You can get a better deal if you stay a bit outside the city and take the bus in. Portobello is an amazing part of the city and has a lovely beach.
Other things to do in Edinburgh are a climb up Arthur’s Seat, a walk up the Royal Mile and a visit to Princes Street Gardens. Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a once in a lifetime experience. I hope you can go!
