Before I became a mom, I just did not ‘get it’. I have three older sisters who all had babies way before me and when they would come and visit me, I would always tease them about how I was going to go and take a hot bath and relax as I was giving back their crying child.
Well, those days are over, and now when my sisters and I get together with our kids and one of my kids cry, they tease me! I guess I deserve it, right? Ha!
So, I obviously did not get the whole parenting thing. Sure you can give the parent back their crying baby, but when you have your own it really is DIFFERENT. Things change, they really do.
Becoming a mom has never been more rewarding though. Sure there are hard times and times I wish I could run far away, but for the most part? I am thrilled with being a mommy to my three beautiful, healthy children!
My oldest son has always been a wonderful eater. He would eat whatever I cooked for him. He made being a mommy quite easy! So, I had another child…
My second child, a girl, was not the same as my firstborn. She was cranky and did what she wanted to do. That little girl had an attitude at an early age! Sheesh!
When it was feeding time, she would eat, but she was super picky about what she ate. It was a bit harder, but I really wanted to get her to eat healthy when she DID eat. It was hard!
Then came my third born, another boy. This little one is certainly carefree, funny, and will NOT eat just anything. He is SO particular about what he puts in his little pie hole that it drives this mama nuts! Mealtime is not a fun time in this home! It really is not.
I have tried many things with my youngest son and some things have worked way better than others. He likes fruits and some veggies, so that is good.
But when it comes to me making meals, and serving them to the family, he will barely touch them, even if they are things he would eat separately.
One thing my youngest son (and daughter!) will eat is Gerber® Organic baby food; particularly the 3rd Foods® Organic pouches. Oh my goodness, my youngest son will suck those up in no time flat!
He thinks mommy is giving him some sort of treat when really, this is good for him. He also really likes the latest foodie combinations like Pears, Mangoes, and Avocado.
When I feed him those pouches, I feel like at least he ate something healthy at mealtime. It makes me feel better about myself. He is just SO picky!!!
One thing I have learned about raising my babies is that you have to be very very VERY patient! You have to constantly try new things so they find what they like to eat. It is not fun, but it is necessary.
I have to tell myself every day that this too shall pass and one day they will be big and on their own and I will be sad! So, that gets me every time!
I love my little kids with all my heart. They are why I live and they are my best friends in the world! I never thought I would be a mommy, but now that I am, I feel so complete!!!

I am glad no one in our family is picky. I have heard some horror stories before.

I had 4 sons all grown now and the one who was the hardest to feed as a baby is the one who eats everything and lot of it. He will try things in other countries I would never touch

My son was a picky eater too. It’s so weird because now he’ll eat pretty much anything. He grew up on Gerber foods and always loved them though. 🙂

I’ve been really lucky my son isn’t too picky. There are some things he draws the line with and sometimes he will fight me to try something new he doesn’t want to try, but he does actually enjoy a lot of different vegetables and fruits.

I don’t know how I lucked out by my son and daughter will eat anything 🙂 Now one of my step daughters has a terrible diet! She’s 17 and won’t eat fruit or vegetables!

My daughter was very picky when she was younger. She ate only eggs, cucumbers, cheese and ham for a while.

My nephew would eat only peanut butter and jelly sandwiches until he was about 8 – he is now a big, strong 20 year old so I guess it usually works out okay over time.

Your kids are adorable! My guy is the picky eater in my house lol

My first child was very picky and still is. My second loves to eat and he’s not afraid to try new foods too. Kids from the same family can be strikingly different, I also think that my new mom status with my oldest had me experimenting less with baby foods and textures than I did with my second. That might play a part in his pickiness today.

I am probably the most picky eater in my house – and I’m grateful for that! I love that my kids are willing to try new foods and don’t fight with me when I tell them they need to take a ‘no thank you bite’ for foods they don’t want to eat.

I am going to go and check these out right now so I know what they look like to find them in the store. I did not have picky eater kids but boy do I have a grandson who is so these might be my solution.

Kids can definitely be so so picky, especially at the baby food stage. Trying new things and retrying old things is so important! I love those organic pouches, they make on-to-go so easy.

Those pouches are genius. Seriously so little mess and kids just love them. I have to share a funny memory. My husband and I were on a walk when we moved into our neighborhood. We knew we found our people when a neighbor’s daughter was making applesauce art with her pouch. Her dad seemed embarrassed at the mess, but it was so refreshing to know there were people with kids (who sometimes make messes, well a lot of times) nearby.

We have some picky eaters too and they love those pouches luckily! Otherwise they would live on mac and cheese.

My youngest son is wicked picky, too. He would live on hotdogs and chicken nuggets if I would let him LOL.

I try so hard to give my 3 kids foods that they aren’t use to. So far my son, 15 months isn’t picky. In fact, he doesn’t really care for meats like chicken nuggets and hot dogs. He’s all about fruits and veggies
