Do essential oils work? Well, last year, I purchased some essential oils from Amazon. They were super cheap but that was okay because who has a million dollars to spend? I received them, used them, and saw a little bit of a difference when I used them for my headaches and other things. I was not overly excited about them, but they did help some.
Fast forward to this year…
I was feeling more and more compelled to try out some essential oils that were potent and pure. I knew that because of the SUPER cheap price I bought my essential oils for on Amazon, made the oils less pure and not so potent. They were really liquid-y and watered down.
Do Essential Oils Work?
I heard many many good reviews about an Essential Oils company that I have had my eye on for a long time but just could never justify the cost of them at the time. But, I really wanted to try them. Then, when tax refunds came in, buying these oils was first on my list and I did, I bought my kit!!

Now, I can really test them out 😉
My kit arrived and man I was excited to get started on them. The information was a bit overwhelming but I dug into them anyways. The first oil I diffused was thieves because we had all been getting a cold. I knew that Thieves was a great place to start!
At nighttime, I also put a bit of lavender on my kids and hubby. My kids slept fairly well that night and hubby slept pretty well too. I have since started diffusing lavender and thieves or lavender and peace & calming, at night. Really, whatever I think we need at the moment, I will diffuse it.
Natural Cure For Canker Sores!
Canker Sores, UGH!
My son was complaining of a canker sore on his lip, just inside his mouth. I had to read what oil I could use on the canker sore, to help it heal quickly and make it less painful. So, I dabbed a bit of Tea Tree Essential Oil on it. Just put a few drops on a Q-Tip and dabbed it then immediately had him swish his mouth out with water.
You do not want to swallow this oil! So be sure to wash out your mouth after using it. You can also make a mouthwash using tea tree oil mixed with water, just do NOT swallow it.
After I did that, my son told me the sore barely hurt anymore and it felt kind of numb feeling. The next day, he was eating fine and said the canker sore was still there, but he could barely feel it anymore.
Could These Oils Actually Be Helping???
I was thrilled with my son’s canker sore feeling better and wanted to try the oils on someone/something else. That night, my hubby was telling me his knees were really achy and he did not think he would be able to fall asleep easily, without taking some ibuprofen. I again went on the internet and searched for essential oils to help with knee pains.
I came up with Peppermint and Lavender. I used a carrier oil (which is just another common oil like coconut oil) and mixed the carrier oil with the peppermint and lavender oils and rubbed it on his knees.
About 3 minutes later, he said he could not believe it, but his knees did not hurt or ache anymore. I had to ask him a couple of times “Are you sure?” and both times he said, “Yes, I am sure!”. He slept very well that night. Now, before bed each night, my hubby asks ME to put essential oils on HIM. He was a skeptic, but not anymore.
Do Essential Oils Work?
Now, I still have a TON to learn and I am in NO way an expert on essential oils, nor do I pretend to know much about these oils. BUT, one thing I DO know now is that they are working for me and my family. They are doing things that HELP my family. They are making me WANT to learn more about them and their uses.
I do use Peppermint oil on my neck, temples, behind my ears, and on my wrists (maybe not all at the same times, but in those certain places) when I have a headache. I use peppermint with a carrier oil on upset tummies and have been diffusing different oils, each day. I just have plenty more to learn! I am excited about it all!
Today, I just got Grapefruit Essential Oil in the mail (already have the other two essential oils) and I am excited to start my weight loss journey with my oils.

I used tea tree oil on my sons nails when he was a baby. Because of our skin disorder, his nails were super thin, always inflamed, and constantly ripping. The dermatologist actually recommended the tea tree oil, to keep from having to put him on constant antibiotics. His nails improved, and the derm credits the tea tree oil.
