How To Take Your Children On A Cultural Adventure Around The World Without Leaving Home!

Since school is FINALLY out for the summer and summer is officially here (yippee!!!) what kinds of things do you do with your children?? How about an exotic family vacation, without ever leaving your home?? Sounds pretty good to me 🙂

Two-time Emmy Award nominee, National Geographic Wildlife correspondent, and mom of four daughters, Mireya Mayor National Geographic’s “Ultimate Explorer” talked about taking children around the world without leaving home, on June 8th and it was good!! The fun segment covered an economical way to “travel” and how it’s a great way to teach your children about different cultures, all from the comfort of your own home!

Through Mireya’s expeditions, she uncovered parts of the world that many people may never get to see! As an explorer, her goal is to expose people to new places, cultures and the native wildlife that live there. As a mom, she strives to encourage her children to appreciate what’s beyond their immediate surroundings so that future generations can respect and enjoy all the beauty the world has to offer. Very cool!

Here Are Some Tips That Mireya Discussed:

*Ways to spark your child’s interest in world travel
*Easy things you can do at home to inspire your kids to learn more about the world
*Playing with toys that make learning about the world fun and entertaining, like the long-
*standing Barbie “Dolls of the World” Collection which represents diverse cultures like Ireland,
*Australia, China, Argentina, Mexico, India, Chile and Holland
*Fun activities you can do to “travel the world from home” such as hosting an “International
*night” family dinners and other fun family activities

I had the opportunity to interview Mireya!! See YouTube Video Below:

This summer, Barbie re-launches the largest and longest-running series in their collection – Dolls of the World – Ireland, Australia, China, Argentina, Mexico, India, Chile and Holland! We received two Barbie Dolls from this collection and my daughter just loves them to pieces! She has them go with her pretty much everywhere, but especially loves to take them outside with her, on “adventures“! It is too cute! Each doll cam with a passport and little animal!

We find that to get an interest in a travel destination it pays to bring it up often over a period of time before we go and tell her new facts about the place.

We love to take road trips and she enjoys them for the most part (she doesn’t like the few all day drives to get to our destination!). We also watch a lot of the Travel channel so she gets to see different places around the world on there. We actually live right across the Mexico border but won’t take her there right now because of the violence. Maybe one day it will let up and we can take her. It would be an awesome experience for her. I loved going there and eating!
