It’s Okay to Take Shortcuts Like These! If you are the kind of person who thinks it is wrong to take shortcuts, let’s have a moment of real talk: Do you churn your own butter by hand? Then you are already taking shortcuts, in fact, quite a lot of them.
No one in the present society is a purist in everything they do. You are just picking and choosing areas where you think shortcuts are okay.
When we talk about negatively taking shortcuts, what we mean is compromising on important things that really matter, like safety. There is no situation where taking a safety shortcut is a good thing, especially when your children are involved.

It’s Okay to Take Shortcuts
Sometimes, we feel particularly guilty when it comes to taking shortcuts where our kids are concerned. But the fact is you have no reason to feel guilty.
Kids don’t exactly have terribly high standards. They are easily impressed with whatever you do for them unless they’re over 16. At that point, there is nothing you can do to please them.
Don’t worry. They’ll get over it. Your 8-year-old doesn’t have to wear high-fashioned clothes. In fact, they would probably be better off not having it.
Newsflash, you don’t need it either. Here are a few other areas where taking a shortcut is not only okay, it might actually be preferable:
Your Favorite Drink
There is something to be said for going to the bar and having your favorite cocktail mixed by your favorite bartender. But a lot of what could be said isn’t all that good.
The bar is too busy and crowded. You have to wait longer than you wanted to. Let’s not even talk about the amount of money that drink is going to cost you. And you are going to get hit on by everyone with an Adam’s apple.
Thankfully, there is another option. You can have your ready to drink cocktails delivered to you in the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to sacrifice what’s enjoyable about the drink while eliminating everything about the experience that is distasteful.
It is a shortcut with benefits and no drawbacks. For those occasions when you don’t have time to go out to the bar for a drink, you can bring the ready-to-mix drink to you. That is a shortcut we can all get behind.
Holiday Decorations
Are you up for going over the river and through the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree? Do you have a chainsaw and a truck and all the necessary riggings for tying that thing down for safe transport?
Do you have four strong friends standing by to help you wrestle that thing into your house and get it supported on the stand?
Then guess what, you’re taking a shortcut. And unlike Charlie Brown, your efforts will score you a tree that is guaranteed to look fabulous to everyone who sees it.
You should consider an artificial tree with lights. That will save you a lot of time, and potentially a lot of money because it will already have everything you need to set it up and light it up.
If you just like running all over town to find the perfect tree bobble, you can still do that. You can give it all of the personal touches you like.
What you don’t have to give is all of your time and attention that could be spent doing something more meaningful with your family. This is the kind of shortcut the whole family will love.
Dinner
What are we going to do about dinner? No one has time to cook. It takes two incomes to get by these days and everyone is tired after a hard day’s work. Are we really going to heat up TV dinners? Never! Fortunately, the best meal delivery services are also healthy options.
Frankly, they are probably healthier than what you would have made had you the time to make anything at all. It’s not just a shortcut, it’s a shortcut to a better place.
Times are changing. Modern life is hectic and we have to make hard choices about how we will spend our time. Reclaim some of that time by enjoying your favorite cocktails without the bar, putting up holiday decorations without the chainsaw, and serving healthy meals without the 3 hours of prep.
