This post is all about tips to choose the perfect swimsuit! Summer is almost here, and that means it’s time to break out those swimsuits, ladies! However, if you’re like most women, you probably dread the process of choosing a swimsuit because it can be so difficult!
Or you simply dread just thinking about it…I know it can be frustrating at times, but this post is to help you with that and maybe have a little fun along the way, too!

The Swimsuit Challenge: Tips To Choose The Perfect Swimsuit
Finding the right swimsuit for my less-than-perfect body can be tricky. You know what I mean, right? In magazines and social media, those swimsuit models always look soooo flawless and perfect! Ugh. And, sometimes, it makes you want to click “buy” instantly because they look so good. Sometimes I wish I could swap my torso with someone else’s, and my thighs and bum too!
However, you can’t do that, so you have to get comfortable in your own skin! Hopefully, you already have a good idea of what swimsuit styles look best on your body and know what your body type is.

Tips To Choose The Perfect Swimsuit!
Swimsuit Styles
Know exactly what you’re looking for before you start shopping. Whether it’s a one-piece, bikini, monokini, tankini swimsuits, or even a thong string bikini (I know, I know...). By knowing what style and suit you are looking for will help you avoid making mistakes and wasting your time.
The most important thing is to choose a suit that flatters your whole body. Pick colors and fabrics that highlight your best features and play down the ones you’re not as crazy about.
All The Details Matter!
If you are shopping online, zoom in on the images and take your time browsing. Grab a refreshing drink while you shop online to help you slip into that summer state of mind.
Go over every swimsuit detail and imagine it on your body. Some website even let you try them on virtually, which can be so helpful in finding the perfect swimsuit for your body!
Sizing Also Matters… A LOT.
Find a swimsuit size for the body you have, not the size you wish you were. Know your true measurements and choose pieces that give you the support you need, whether that’s underwire tops or more coverage on the bottoms, these details matter.
Pick cuts that highlight the features you love most like your long legs or short legs, slim tummy or round tummy, and what would look best on your body shape. While you are doing this, just remember, a woman’s sexiness and worth has nothing to do with her size or shape, it’s all about confidence!
Convenience
Order more than one suit, if shopping online, especially your top favorites. Placing all your orders at once is easier and often more cost-effective. And let’s be honest, nothing beats having your new swimsuit haul delivered straight to your door!
When shopping for a swimsuit in a store, grab as many swimsuits as you are interested in, and try them all on. Make sure to bring a friend who is truthful and kind that can give you honest feedback about each one!
Prepare Your Body (& Mind!)
Get your tan on and give yourself a little golden glow before swimsuit try-on day! Pick up a good self-tanner and apply the sunless tanner the night before! I also love to have a shimmery bronze body oil to apply over my new golden sunless tan for a rich, shimmery, gorgeous tan!
Because, for some reason, and this is just my opinion of course, I feel I look much better when I have a bit of color on my skin! Being a little tan makes me feel great about my body and trying on swimsuits is no longer so depressing!
A tan can also make you appear slimmer, even out your skin tone and even smooth out any cellulite you might have. A tan always instantly puts me in that sunny, summer state of mind too! So, it is a win/win for me!
Go Ahead, Try Them ALL On
When your new swimsuit/s arrive, try them on right away, but set yourself up for success. Make sure you’re well-rested so you’re in a good mood, and choose a spot with bright, natural lighting so you can see the true colors and fit.
Use a full-length mirror to get the full picture from every angle. You can also set up a camera on a tripod and take a few pictures of you wearing the suits so you can really check yourself out and ensure the suits are perfect for your body.
Or, like I said above, when you go to a physical store, you can invite a loyal friend to give you some solid, truthful advice about any suits they love on you (or don’t like at all!).
Skip the shoes and socks, they’ll only distract from the look. Instead, slip on a pair of cute beach sandals if you want to get into that vacation vibe while you admire yourself in your new swimsuit. This will also give you the real vision of how your whole beach style will look when out on that beach!
The Swimsuit I Chose!

This is the swimsuit my daughter and I chose when we were swimsuit shopping! Aren’t they both cute??? The one on the left is from La Blanca. It is a premium swimsuit line from Manhattan Beachwear!
The suit is the Island Goddess Over the Shoulder Mesh One Piece in the color Black. My daughter and I both fit into it, and we both adore it! It is our go-to swimsuit for sure!
I also received their really cute Sunshine 79 Maximal Mesh Tank Dress in the color Black to wear over the swimsuit if I wanted to. It fits beautifully except I forgot to get a picture of me wearing it sigh… But we LOVE it! It is sexy and covers any imperfections while also showing off your best assets!
I am also wearing a black bikini that I bought a year or so ago, that I am wearing and love. It fits comfortably and shows off the things I like about my body!
