But First, A Real-Life Creepy Camping Story (Hint: SPIDERS!!!)
So, talking about picking the right camping spot… When me and my husband were in our 20’s we went camping a lot! One time we did it last minute and ended up just grabbing the first camping spot we could see in the dark!
We got everything set up and then we lit up that bonfire! As soon as we lit that fire, daddy long leg SPIDERS started falling from the HUGE trees above us!! OMG. It was a complete and utter NIGHTMARE!!!
Spiders EVERYWHERE (and I mean EVERYWHERE!). I think I locked myself in my husbands blazer (if only we had a camper!) and had a flashlight on ALL night long so I could watch for ‘intruders‘..
I cried a whole lot that night too and rocked myself back and forth because I was SO traumatized.. So ya, picking the right campground or spot? Ya, superrrr important here!
Okay, back to my blog post about How To Make Camping Comfortable! Whoosh…
How To Make Camping Comfortable! These Items Can Help!
From a good sleeping pad to a comfortable camp chair, every item you pack should make your stay in the great outdoors a little more like home. Below, you will find a list of items to help keep you super cozy when you go camping!
The Mozy

One of the smartest things you can pack for colder weather camping or chilly evenings outdoors is the Mozy. This wearable thermal wrap is designed to wrap securely around your waist and fastens with a no-hassle Velcro closure. It’s quick and easy to put on or take off, and it stays in place even if you stand up or walk around.
What makes the Mozy truly special is how fast it works. Within just 30 seconds of putting it on, you’ll feel up to five times warmer than you would with a typical stadium blanket.
It doesn’t rely on any batteries or external power sources—instead, it uses the science of heat transfer and thermodynamics to trap and retain your own body heat. This helps you warm up fast and stay comfortable, no matter what the temperature is outside. The Mozy is also wind-proof and helps to block out biting gusts and weather-proof so you can sit on damp or wet surfaces without worry.
Compared to regular blankets and other outdoor wearables, the Mozy is in a class of its own. Blankets tend to slip off or let cold air in, and most outdoor wraps are bulky or rely on battery-powered heating. But, the Mozy overcomes all of those challenges with a sleek, simple design that keeps you warm without sacrificing mobility or comfort. The Mozy helps you stay warm and cozy in any outdoor setting!
The Mozy Features:
📈 500% warmer than a stadium blanket
💌 Seals in your own body heat
🔥 Adjustable warmth
🖐️ Wearable: stays on hands-free
🔒 Large pockets & carabiner clip secures valuables
You can purchase The Mozy on their website OR on Amazon.com. It retails for $108.99 and is worth every penny!
Portable Toilet
If you are camping somewhere off-grid with absolutely nothing but trees and mountains around you, you will need a portable toilet for sure! No having to worry about squatting and hoping you didn’t get ‘anything’ on your pants or shoes…haha!
Most portable toilets come with the waste bags too, which is really nice. However, we like this portable camping toilet when we camp in the middle of nowhere because it can flush (I feel so fancy using it!) and it has wheels for easy portability!
Portable Camping Shower
Some of you probably don’t care, but I do! And bringing a portable camping shower with me if we are tent camping is a must if we are camping for a week or longer! I don’t usually bother if we are only camping for a short weekend, but anything longer? Yeah, get in that portable shower!!!!
Toiletries
When you go camping, chances are you don’t really get to shower often, (if at all). And the stench can be alarming if you don’t do a lil’ body care! It is a MUST for me when camping and should be for everyone (especially because everyone is sleeping in such close quarters!!!).
My Must-Have Toiletries:
- Hand sanitizer
- Body wipes or water wipes
- Dry shampoo (for us girlies with longggg hair!!!)
- Bath towels
- Body lotion (can’t stand dry skin!)
- Feminine hygiene products (if needed obviously)
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, & dental floss
Bring whatever you think would make you feel more comfortable! That is what I do!
Air Mattress/Pad & Pillows

Getting a good night’s sleep outdoors can be a bit difficult, especially if you’re lying on the cold ground. That’s why you will NEED a high-quality sleeping pad or air mattress to slumber on!
Self-inflating pads with pillows are a good choice if you don’t want to pack pillows or if you need more space. We love this double sleeping pad so much! The cushioning and two inflatable pillows helps give you a restful night’s sleep. And, it fits in the back of most SUV’s! So cozy!!!
An inflatable air mattress is also wonderful, especially if you want to sleep higher up off the ground (because, ya know, bugs…). We absolutely LOVE this raised air mattress with built in pump! No hassles and no bugs crawling on you during the night 😉
These small touches make a huge difference in how you sleep and feel the next day. You can find tons of different inflatable camping air mattresses on Amazon!
First Aid Kit
An emergency first aid kit is so important to bring camping! Being prepared for small injuries like cuts, scrapes, blisters, or sprained ankle can happen easily.
Having supplies like bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, wound wrap, pain relievers, etc., will help treat injuries right away. You don’t want a minor problem you can patch up with a first aid kit, ruining the whole camping trip. So, make sure you bring one along just to be safe!
Batteries
Batteries are obviously going to be helpful to bring camping they can be a ‘backup‘ in case something unexpected happens, like losing power in your flashlight or lantern, and being stuck in the dark. Having extra long-lasting batteries can help you feel more prepared and less stressed during your camping trip.
Camp Stove & Cooking Supplies
You certainly don’t want to forget a reliable camp stove! It’s the best way to cook meals when open flames aren’t allowed or when you want more control. We love this camp stove on Amazon!
If you are planning on camping for a few days, you will also need some campfire cooking supplies, cleaning supplies, and accessories to not only prepare your meals, but also to clean up your dishes after cooking/eating!
Campfire Cooking & Supplies:
- Cast-iron skillet
- Propane Torch
- Cooking tongs
- Metal spatula
- Roasting sticks/skewers
- Aluminum foil
- Heat-resistant gloves
- Mess Kits
- Cutting board & knife
- Can opener
- Seasonings, & condiments
- Dish Soap
- Rags/Towels
- Trash Bags
Large Cooler

A good cooler is another camping must-have essential, especially in warmer climates. Keeping your food and drinks cold and fresh is important whether you’re cooking full meals or just storing snacks. We love this cooler for our beverages & food.
Portable Camp Table
A portable camp table adds extra convenience by giving you space for meal prep, eating, or playing those late night card games. Creating a clean, organized camp kitchen area adds to the comfortable camping experience! We really like this camp table.
Camp Chairs

For lounging around, comfortable camp chairs are a must. Look for ones with cup holders, sturdy frames, and lumbar support. If you want something extra relaxing, try a rocking or hammock-style camp chair.
Sitting comfortably at your campsite with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa is one of the best parts of camping. Don’t forget your favorite coffee mugs to really enjoy those peaceful moments.
We like these cozy camping chairs!!! Check out all the camping chairs on Amazon!!!
Tent & Outdoor Rug

Your tent setup plays a big role in your overall experience. Dome tents are a great choice for most campers since they’re easy to set up and don’t take up much space.
You can also add an outdoor camping rug right outside your tent to create a cozy tent vibe and keep the dirt outside. This added living space also makes it easier to organize your gear and move around without everything getting filthy!
You can find dome tents on Amazon. And outdoor camping rugs can also be found on Amazon.
Tarp/Canopy
Packing a tarp or canopy can make camping much more comfortable by giving you a dry place to sit on or under, when it rains and gives you much needed shade when the sun is hot.
A tarp can even be used as a tent floor, beach mat, and for creating a better area for eating, relaxing, or keeping your camping supplies protected from the weather.
Comfy Sleeping Bag & Extra Blankets

For colder weather, make sure you pack the right sleeping bag. A high-quality soft and cozy sleeping bag rated for the expected temperature range you will be camping in, will keep you warm through the night.
Add extra blankets if needed. I always feel more comfy with a super soft blanket! Plus, it’s always a good idea to bring more blankets than you think you’ll need. Nights can get colder than expected, even in warmer climates!
These sleeping Bags for Adults Kids are perfect and they are inexpensive and COZY!! You can purchase them on Amazon and they retail for only $26.99 each! Plus, they come in some really pretty colors!!!
The camping blankets that I recommend are REDCAMP Large Warm Camping Blankets with Sherpa Lining! They can be purchased on Amazon and they retail for $29.99 each. They also come in different colors and look so dang cozy!
Zip Lock Bags/Food Containers
Bringing zip lock bags, containers, or food bags is a good idea when camping because they help keep food fresh and protect food from bugs, dirt, and animals. They also prevent spills and make it easier to organize snacks and leftovers. Keeping food sealed can make the campsite cleaner and less inviting to the wildlife around you.
Portable Speakers
If you want to enjoy a bit of music in the great outdoors, then you will need a good, portable speaker or two! We always have to listen to good music when we camp! It just makes it more fun for us!
We love the LectroFan Micro 2 because they are SO tiny, yet so powerful! And? They double as a sound machine too!! However, Amazon has a TON of different portable speakers to choose from here!

Bug Repellent & Sunscreen
Don’t forget about practical items like insect repellent to keep bugs at bay and sunscreen to keep the sun from frying your skin off! Having easy access to sunscreen and bug protection will help you relax and be able to enjoy the great outdoors without constant annoyances like sunburns and bug bites!
We use the OFF! Bug Repellant products because they have always worked really well for us. For the sunscreen, look for a mineral based one as they are better for you!
For sunscreen, we like to use HealthyDerm Beef Tallow Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 because it works well at protecting our skin and it is very nourishing. This mineral sunscreen is made with natural ingredients, 25% non-nano zinc oxide, and grass-fed beef tallow. It can be used for your face and whole body!
Camp Lanterns & Flashlights
You will need a camp lantern or a flashlight for those middle-of-the-night bathroom runs. A good lantern we really like is the Eveready LED Camping Lanterns! They come in a pack of two and the batteries are included. They are inexpensive and work great for camping.
For flashlights, we love the AKNEAR Rechargeable LED Flashlight and have a few of these around our house for emergencies. They are very bright and illuminate your surroundings really nicely. It comes in a pack of 2 and has a 10-year warranty! I have a discount code for you, too! Just use the code: HO8UIPG5 on Amazon at checkout for $20 off.
How To Choose The Best Campsite!

And, as I mentioned above, choosing the right campsite also makes a HUGE difference. Look for an ideal campsite that offers shade, level ground, and access to water sources.
If possible, find a site with some privacy and enough room to spread out your setup. When your surroundings are just right, the entire camping trip feels more cozy, peaceful and fun!
