In this post, we will talk about why I choose road trips over flying in airplanes. I used to love flying in jets and airplanes and traveled a lot in them when I was younger. Now that I am older and have children, I am terrified of flying!
It all started after my second child. I started getting anxiety attacks and became very claustrophobic. It was terrible, it IS terrible.
I remember I had to fly about a year after I had my daughter and I had to be prescribed medication to help calm me. Ya, I just don’t like flying and would rather choose road trips over flying in airplanes any day.
Why I Choose Road Trips Over Flying In Airplanes
I know what they say, traveling in a car is much more dangerous than flying, but I disagree. That is my opinion and I just feel that flying is way too dangerous for my family and me. Too many planes are disappearing, crashing, or being hijacked. I just can’t do it.
My family really wants to go to Disney World (or Disneyland!) next year and if we were to do that, we would have to fly. I would have to be medicated…
Road trips are more personal to me and give me a sense of security. We are in control of our vehicle and we can stop and get out any time we want to. I also really enjoy the car games we play as a family and the family time we have. It is so much more enjoyable to me!
Being on an airplane is not only frightening for me, but I am not in control of anything. I cannot stop the plane if I need/want to and I have to be confined in a plane surrounded by strangers. Not my kind of thing.
Plus, you can stop and enjoy the scenery. My kids get so caught up in the pretty scenery sometimes that they are quiet!! You can’t beat that kind of quietness on a road trip! 🙂
There are so many nice vehicles too. Nice affordable, comfortable and safe vehicles. Why chance it on an airplane when you can travel comfortably with your family in a safe vehicle with your family?
