This post is all about elf-Identification of Students. Self-identity has remained a hot topic of discussion in colleges. Both students and lecturers discuss it in terms of its pros and cons. Some students may focus more on the side of race or color. Many others look at them in terms of who they are.  Self-identity is an important issue to pay attention to. A student can know their strengths and weaknesses.

Knowing who you are helping builds confidence in you. You can know why you are unique. It is a way to distinguish you from all other people.

Why self-identity is important

Institutions of learning bring together learners from all over the world. They are from different cultures, religions, and nationalities. They are from different races, colors, and beliefs. To the students, self-identity is important too. Learning in a multicultural institution can be challenging. To accept others, a student must accept themselves first.

Many students become stressed when they think about writing college essays. Their mere thought of writing another research paper scares them. Learning more about the writing process is helpful to many students.

One of the places to get inspired is the free essay writing examples shared by Writingbros on various professional websites. Such resources contain a large number of interesting materials and essays on global and interesting topics. With such services, there will be no problems with inspiration, scooping up new ideas and thoughts on any acute social, environmental or simply heating topic.

The most important and convenient thing for students is that it’s completely free! After all, not every student is willing to spend money to gain access to such a database of materials.

How self-identity affects academic performance

College students have a consistent spell for good grades. This desire drives them to work harder. However, self-identity has a major influence on grades. Many researchers have published different reports on this topic. They have interviewed millions of students for many years.

Most of the reports point out the role played by self-identity in student performance. They emphasize the importance of understanding the self. Students who perform better have a higher level of self-identity.

Every student must take a bold step and develop their self-identity. They will not perform well if they don’t understand who they are. Knowing self will help them become confident.

How teachers can help students find self-identity

Student identity development revolves around everything they do. It develops when they are in the classroom and in other activities. The teacher should not decide who the student should be. Instead, they should help them to be who they are. They should never use a biased opinion.

Teacher comments on students’ writing should not be biased. It might make the student develop a negative identity about themselves. Often, students depend on the opinions of others. They don’t develop their unique opinion about themselves. Flowing with the opinion of others only confuses them. The teacher’s role is to help them create a positive opinion concerning themselves.

Important questions a student must ask themselves

A student cannot know who they are if they get disturbed by peer pressure. They may judge themselves according to the way grading college papers is done. Such students base their identity on what they see and hear. On the contrary, they should develop their identity from a different perspective. These key questions will help them.

*What strengths do I have? A student’s strengths will help build confidence. They will build courage in themselves.

*Do I flow with people’s opinions to please them? It is okay to be accommodative. However, it is not okay to define yourself according to them.

*Do I have any values in life: A student can know who they are based on their values. They could be kind, honest, or trustworthy.

The role played by social identity: Self-Identification of Students

Students come from different societies and cultures. They have parents they look up to. They have religious leaders, a student community, and teachers. Students seek to fit and feel accepted in all these groups.

They would rather seek a student contract for grades if it helps them feel accepted. According to them, acceptance depends on performance. It is also depended on who they are.

Society has set various standards of expectation from students. Their family expects them to have good behavior and grades. Their student community expects them to be like them.

Teachers expect them to perform better. All these are things that can shape student self-identity. People are social beings who seek to fit in specific social circles. This triggers them to conform to their social group expectations to help them fit in.

The topic of self-identity is wide. It is often discussed in institutions of learning. Many people have researched the topic. They have arrived at different conclusions.

Self-identity is key to student performance. Students who understand who they are will perform better academically. Social factors significantly influence students’ understanding of who they are. Teachers should help students discover their self-identity. They should not influence them on who they should be.
