*6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

Whether you’ve been exercising for a while or have just started hitting the gym, it’s important to understand the factors that affect your performance. Working out is a lot more than showing up and doing your sets, and when you pay attention to every small detail, you can truly boost the results.

6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

You might not be getting the outcome you’d like for many reasons such as not eating a healthy diet or not getting enough sleep. It could also be that you’re exercising too much, or not hydrating yourself properly.

Read on and find out about the factors that affect your exercise:

Performing Exercises Properly

It goes without saying that you need to perform the exercises correctly to get the results you want. You should probably hire a personal trainer, even if it’s just for a few sessions, so you can learn the proper way to do the exercises. Many people copy what others are doing and end up with inferior results or unnecessary injuries.

Stretching Before You Workout

Understanding how and when to stretch is imperative if you’d like to improve your performance and avoid hurting yourself. You shouldn’t stretch before strength training as it can cause joint instability; however, if you’re doing intense sprinting exercises, it’s absolutely necessary to stretch in order to avoid injuries.

6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

Ensuring You’re Hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential if you’d like to perform at your best — hydration can enhance your motor neurons, regulate your body temperature, and even help you burn more fat. The best course of action is to get a water tracker, so you can remember to drink water and stay on top of your game.

Exercising Too Much

Many people don’t realize that working out too much might actually be harmful. The main reason is that your body needs to recover between sessions, especially if you’re doing high-intensity exercises. If you’re getting constantly exhausted, sore for many days, or getting sick easily, you might need to slow down a gear and let your body recover.

Keeping a Healthy Diet

Going to the gym and exercising is only half of the battle; if you’re not eating a healthy and balanced diet, it’ll be a lot harder to get fit. You should consider talking to a nutritionist to create the ideal meal plan for your training — for instance, muscle gain and weight loss require completely different diets.

6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

Not Getting Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep is associated with various health problems such as decreased immune function and blood pressure instability. Ideally, you should avoid exercising in the evening as it can increase your heart rate and adrenaline levels, which in turn can keep you awake and impair your sleep patterns.

6 Factors That Have a Major Effect on Your Exercise

It can sometimes be disappointing to exercise every day without seeing any tangible results. When you take the time to learn about the factors that can make your workout more efficient, you can focus on what really matters. So, it might be the case that you just need to drink more water or do an exercise properly to considerably boost your performance.

I did not know that you should not stretch before strength training! That is actually really good to know. I just do a few exercises at home (with stretching first) but I do try to work on strength every now and then because I have to do a lot of heavy lifting at work so I like to add that into my routine. I will be changing things up!

These are all good points to consider. I think that the one about if you are doing the exercise correctly is important. You can hurt yourself if you’re doing them wrong.
