As women, there’s a lot of pressure on us to look a certain way; but what it should come down, to is feeling good for yourself– and not to please anyone else. When you feel your best it gives you confidence and can really give your self-esteem a boost.
But beauty products can be expensive, if you’re struggling to kit yourself out with the latest lotions and potions, here are some ideas for saving money.
Beauty on a Budget: Save Money, Look Great!
Make your own products
Natural beauty products can be highly effective, they’re inexpensive to make and contain all of the nourishing ingredients that are in beauty products with none of the nasties. Sure, they might not last a long time but aren’t difficult to make- so whether it’s a natural acne solution or a face mask you can easily whip it up the day you want to use it.
Common kitchen ingredients like bananas, avocados, oils, and sugar make great scrubs, hair products, and face mask. Natural ingredients are full of vitamins and minerals that can really benefit you. Have a look online for some recipes based on your particular skin or hair complaint.
Find deals and discounts
Makeup, skincare and beauty products, in general, can be very expensive. Before paying full price, it’s so worth looking around and seeing if you can find any deals and discounts. Lots of online stores stock end of line products at a massively reduced price, they’re brand new and there’s nothing wrong with them!
In other cases, there might be sales and reductions that you can take advantage of to restock your makeup bag and dressing table. The internet makes it so easy to scour and compare prices, so don’t just pay full price on the first thing you see.
Go highstreet over high end
Sometimes in life, you really do get what you pay for, and a higher price tag equates to better quality products. However, there are other times when you’re really just paying for a brand name- and actually, generic or lower end products can be just as good.
When it comes to beauty, you might be surprised to know that cheaper products can be excellent, with many in the beauty community finding ‘dupes’ which are inexpensive products that are very similar to the one that’s much higher end.
Do your research and read reviews, there are plenty out there so you can make an informed choice with your cash. Of course, expensive products will often yield great results, but it goes to show that in many cases you can get very similar results for far less.
One thing to be aware of is that budget products from legitimate brands are fine but don’t risk counterfeit beauty. These are copies of big brands and can be found cheaply on places like eBay, and can contain all kinds of nasty ingredients.
Swap with friends
We all have products that we’ve used once or twice and then left to gather dust, maybe they just didn’t work for us. If your friends have all done the same, that’s a whole heap of products that could be going to waste.
How about having a little swap party, as long as things are only lightly used you can disinfect others and try out some new things. Just be sure to check how long the product has been open, many things can spoil if they’ve sat in the back of a drawer for a long time.
