In this post, we talk about the 4 back to school essentials for college students. I don’t have kids in college yet (next year I will) and back-to-school is next week for 2 of my kids. I can’t believe summer is coming to an end and that it is time to go to school again. Bittersweet to me. It makes me kind of sad!
I am kind of ready for them to go back though so we can be on some sort of schedule again. During the summer, we have no schedule and it can be worn on me. I need to have everyone on a schedule again!

We have been buying back-to-school supplies and my kids have almost everything so far, so that is helpful. But, there are a few things that we don’t have, like backpacks and lunch boxes. Those are things we still need to get.
If you have a child that is going to college this year, I have put together a helpful list of back to school essentials for college students.
My oldest son was going to college this fall, but decided to work and go next year. So, the list we had for his college back to school essentials, I don’t want it to go to waste because it is a great list!

2. Laptop
A reliable laptop is really important for all college students. It allows you to complete assignments, conduct research, and communicate with classmates and professors. Look for a lightweight model with good battery life to ensure you can work anywhere on campus.
Here are a few of our favorite laptops for college students:
*Acer Aspire Go 15 Slim Laptop: Retails for $280.39 and is Amazon’s Choice and Top Pick. Check it out here. We really like Acer laptops and own a couple of them.
*HP Notebook Laptop, 15.6″ HD Touchscreen: Retails for $448.95 and is a popular brand pick on Amazon.
*Lenovo 2022 Newest Ideapad 3 Laptop: Retails for $324.95 and can be bought on Amazon.
3. Portable Charger
A portable charger is a must-have for college students for keeping their devices powered throughout the school day. With classes, study sessions, and social activities, they will want to ensure their phone and laptop stay charged without needing to hunt for an outlet.
Amazon sells some top rated portable chargers. Here are a few I found and liked:
*Anker Portable Charger (Best Budget Charger): Retails for $28.79 and you can buy it on Amazon.
*INIU Portable Charger (Best Overall Charger): Retails for $17.99 and is Amazon’s Choice. You can purchase it on Amazon.
*mophie Powerstation XL Power Bank (Large Battery Capacity): It retails for $44.99 and can buy it on Amazon.
4. Flash Drive
We all know how much college students need memory on their devices, right? With all the papers they need to write and all the projects and essays, they totally need a flash drive to keep it all together and safe!
Below are my top recommendations:
*SanDisk 32GB Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive: This comes in a pack of three so your college student has a few to use before he needs more. It retails for $14.99 (38% off right now!) and can be purchased on Amazon.
*MosDART 8GB Swivel Thumb Drive (5 pack): This retails for $23.99 and can be bought on Amazon.
*GARRULAX 64GB Crystal Pen Drive: Dang, these are not only affordable and have great storage BUT they are pretty too! I want some just to have them… They retail for $12.89 and can be bought on Amazon.
Now that we have the top 4 essentials for college students listed, I thought I would list just a few more essentials that college students should also consider! I also have a list on my Amazon Storefront and it is filled with college dorm room essentials and back to school supplies! So be sure to check those lists out!
