If you are currently dealing with an injury that won’t heal, then you will know how frustrating this can be. This is especially the case if the healing process is taking a lot longer than you first imagined.
If you want to speed up the recovery process, then my guide of ‘Got an Injury that Won’t Heal? Find out Why Here!‘, will talk you through the steps you need to take to change things for the better.
Got an Injury that Won’t Heal? Find out Why Here!
Know your Immune System
If your immune system is not as strong as it could be, then this will drastically reduce how well it can operate. Tissue healing is not a simple process, and there are so many immune cells that have to work with one another on multiple levels to heal and repair your body.
On top of this, your immune system is what starts the process of healing. If your immune system is down because you are suffering from a bad cold or if you are battling some other kind of bug, then this will not be doing you any favors.
You may even find that this is the reason why your body is not healing as quickly as it should be, which is the last thing that you need.
Self-Care is Important
If you eat well, have good health in general, and also get plenty of sleep, then this will help you to recover faster. Your body is a physical representation of how well you look after yourself, so you need to make it a priority.
If you know that you don’t sleep as well as you could, or if you resort to junk food over healthy and nutritious meals, then this will not be doing you any favors at all.
You may even find that it slows down the healing process and stops your body from working as well as it should. If you can’t work out, or sleep well because you are struggling with an injury that limits your movement then investing in a lift chair could help you to regain some mobility, while you focus on healing.
Sleep and Hormones
As mentioned above, you have to make sure that you get enough sleep if you want to heal well. Body tissues need to have the chance to recover, and when you sleep, the brain will trigger the hormones required to initiate the repair process.
You will also create more white blood cells when you sleep, which are, again, imperative to the healing process. If you get less than 7 hours of sleep consistently, then this will increase your chances of getting a virus, such as a common cold, and this will slow down your recovery even more.
Exercise
It is often assumed that if you have any kind of injury, putting your feet up is the best thing that you can do. That being said, exercise should be an active part of your general rehabilitation. Keeping active comes with a lot of benefits, including a lower risk of heart disease, so don’t overlook it.
