Car Shopping With Kids
Oh my goodness, car shopping with kids is not something I would recommend to anyone! I have three little kids so going places with them and just me (without my hubby) is very trying.
I am not saying my kids are bad, but they are kids..
There was a time, about 4 years ago (obviously before my littlest one was born) when I took my two older kids with me and hubby to check out used vehicles. At first it was perfect. The weather was beautiful, the kids were happy and content and me and hubby were into looking at that perfect used vehicle.
About an hour into the car searching, my kids started slowly nit-picking at each other. My daughter would want to be held and my son wanted her to NOT be held. He was arguing that she was too big to be held and should be able to walk on her own.
Dear heavens, it had started…
Though my husband was there with me to deal with the kids, it was still very trying to get them to behave. They were getting bored ( I certainly do not blame them!) and they wanted to go home.
Thank heavens I had planned a bit ahead with a goody bag! I took that goodie bag out of our car and the salesman made a nice little place for them to sit and dig into that goody bag.
Inside the goodie bag was the following items:
A bag of pretzels and cheese sticks
2 Bottled waters
A travel board game of Candy Land
2 notepads
Small package of crayons
2 Disposable cameras
Let me tell you, my kids were ANGELS after I gave them their goody bag! They were entertained in their little corner of the car dealership and me and my hubby were able to pick out our perfect ‘new to us’ used vehicle!
So, my advice to those of you who have no choice but to bring your kids with you to go car shopping? Put together a goody bag filled with things that will keep them entertained! It was a life saver for us!
What Would You Put Inside Your Goody Bag???

The goody bag idea sounds great! I bet you could use it for other situations too.

I’m not patient enough… I’d have to get a babysitter for something as big as this 😛

I will put together a goodie bag for the kids, because soon I have to shop for a new car and I have no one to babysit them, so this is a great idea!

I like the idea of a goody bag for those times when you need your child to be calm and quiet. We are planning to purchase a new vehicle this fall or winter and I will be leaving the kids at home!

I think you gave good advice for a difficult situation that I would hope to never have to experience. Kudos to you for getting through it.
