I absolutely love to read to my children at any time of the day. I actually enjoy the books, I read them probably as much as they enjoy me reading to them. So when I was able to review three children’s books, I was very excited!
I was sent three books to review. The first one is called “How Lil’ Eddie Learns to Read”. I will explain each book as I say them so it does not get confusing 🙂
This was the first book that I read to my kids. We sat in our living room, and we got a blanket and pillows, and I read it to them. It is about how a little boy who is turning three gets a book for his birthday and decides to learn to read it.
His parents encourage him through activities, which are in the book, and by setting up a neighborhood reading club as a family.
It is a great book full of information and great ideas to help get your little one ready to read. We really enjoyed this book. The author Rima H. Corral helps children learn literacy skills before entering kindergarten with the guidance of their families in a fun, easy way.
The next book was called “Feeding Penny Pig”. This was a really fun book. The author makes saving money fun by sharing a story of Laney, a little girl who falls in love with a piggy bank that her grandma gave her for her birthday.
Everyday Laney feeds her piggy coins to keep her full and happy. Laney must do chores in order to earn that money. From their friendship, Laney learns to save money and the importance of doing it.
She also learns responsibility and earns her allowance. We really liked this book too. The cute pictures and colors made my kids extra intrigued!
The author is Jeannine Fox. She is devoted to helping children learn the basics of financial responsibility and saving their money.
The third book is called “I’m Up in a Tree”. This book my son really liked. This book is rhyming and really fun to read. It is about a little boy who climbs up a tree, but is too scared to climb down, so he waits for his Dad.
During his wait, animals try and encourage him to climb down and show him ways to do just that, but the boy says no, he will wait for his Dad.
Just when the boy starts thinking he will get into trouble for being in the tree and thinks about climbing down, his dad comes to the rescue!
This is a fun way to teach kids about making good choices. Great book and this is one I have read to my kids several times already.
The author is Mark Alden Johnson. He began writing children’s stories when he became a father. After his first book, Little Fish Lou was published, he knew he wanted to write books for kids to be more than just a hobby.
He says “Nothing is greater than reading a book to a crowd of children and watching their faces light up with joy and excitement”
All three of these books are quality, hard cover books with great illustrations and cute story lines. Two of the books came with a paper covering too, which came off very quickly when they were handled by my kids, so I put those up. Other than that, they are durable and great!
