Save A Trip To The Mechanics And Do It Yourself!

Keeping your new car from East Hills Chevrolet in Roslyn, New York in working order will ensure a long life and even the least auto-savvy person can do it. People spend thousands of dollars on trips to the mechanic when they could easily just do most of the tasks on their own. Save A Trip To The Mechanics And Do It Yourself! That is what I always say!

I’m grateful that my father showed me how to do these easy tasks because it has saved me thousands over the years. Of course, for all of the following procedures, make sure you are getting the right parts from your local parts dealer, and take advantage of Youtube for further guidance (they have thousands of videos that show you exactly how to do these).

First off, changing your oil can easily cost you $30-$60 if you take it to a mechanic. Really, all this takes is a drip pan, some quarts of oil, and an oil filter. You’ll need to prop your car up, so be prepared to get dirty. Still, even with the mess, you’ll make, you’ll be all in for around $15. That’s a huge saving.

Another thing you can easily do is check and change spark plugs and batteries. Both of these components are speedily checked and easily replaced. Spark plugs are very inexpensive (just a few bucks each), but batteries can be very pricey. A process that could cost you hundreds in the shop can quickly be done at home and can make the process hurt your wallet a lot less.

Finally, changing wiper blades and keeping up your exterior can easily be done on your own. The wiper blades (usually) just pop right off and can quickly be popped back on.

On top of that, people spend hundreds on detailing services, when many of those things can be done at home. A good wash, a nice coat of wax, and some attention to detail can keep your car looking like new years down the road.

Do you save a trip to the mechanics and do it yourself?
