Do you have cats? We have many of them! Do you take your cats to the vet? If you do, good for you! It is very important to have healthy and happy felines!
Half of cats don’t see a veterinarian on a regular basis. One cat, for every five dogs, is seen by a vet on a regular basis. Crazy to think about that, isn’t it? And, there are about 10 million more cats owned, in the U.S! Gah! Why on earth are our precious furry felines not seeing the veterinarian regularly? That is not fair!
Dancer, reality TV judge and proud pet owner Carrie Ann Inaba is partnering with Royal Canin® as a spokesperson this year to promote Take Your Cat to the Vet Day! Yay!
Everyone really should be taking their cats to the vet more often than not. In fact, we have two female cats that are going to be getting their check-ups soon AND they will be fixed. Time to shut those kitty making machines down, once and for all. We have reached our limit of furry cats!
The other companies that are joining Royal Canin in urging more attention to preventative care for cats are the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the CATalyst Council, The International Cat Association and the Cat Fanciers’ Association!
Royal Canin recently commissioned a survey to better understand how pet owners feel about cat health, especially compared to dogs and learned some really interesting things. Check them out, below:
• 68% of cat owners feel that cats are healthier than dogs
• When asked why cat owners don’t take their cat to the vet more often, financial burden is the primary reason (40%), while 31% of people responded it’s because they believe their cat doesn’t need to go
• 66% say they would take their cat more often to the vet if it was easier to do
• Men are actually more likely to be found at the vet’s office than women. 34% of male cat owners visit the vet more than once per year, compared to just one in four women!
Those statistics certainly opened my eyes up a bit and made me really think! Why do we feel cats don’t need to visit the vet? Or at least visit the vet once a year? Maybe because they are so independent and we feel like they just don’t need to go? Dogs are certainly needier and more of a companion so maybe that is why people who own dogs, take them more frequently? I am not sure, but those stats above are crazy! Don’t you think?
Take Your Cat To The Vet!
I encourage all of you cat owners, to please take your precious feline to the vet! National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day is on August 22, 2017. So, get started on your cat’s health today, if you have not already, and get them their check-up/s! Royal Canin’s partnership with Frankie’s Friends is to help cats get the Veterinary care they need.
So, throughout the month of August, cat owners like me, can share a photo of their cat and/or tips on how they’ve successfully gotten their cat to the vet using hashtag #Cat2VetDay. For every share, Royal Canin will donate $5 to Frankie’s Friends!! Isn’t that fabulous?!?
