Improving the health of your home comes with many benefits. There are also many ways to improve the health of your home, which improves the health of everyone living inside. If you’ve been wondering how you can make your home healthier, safer, and even happier for your family, you can find a few simple ways to do that in this blog.

Simple Ways to Make Your Home Healthier

Inspect and Improve Your Water

Many homeowners don’t realize how the water flowing into their houses can affect their health. One of the best ways to improve the health of your water is by bringing in a water softener service to inspect, improve, and install a water softener system for you.

You’ll be surprised at how much softer your clothes and skin will feel, and how much more vibrant your hair will be with the right water system in your home.

Simple Ways to Make Your Home Healthier

Improve Air Quality

Most homeowners don’t seem to give a second thought to the air quality on the inside of their homes. However, the quality of the air inside can make you just as sick as poor air quality outside can.

It’s pretty easy to improve that air by keeping your home clean, changing out air filters on the HVAC unit on a regular basis,  changing out air filters on the HVAC unit on a regular basis, and even having plants in your home that increase and purify the air around you.

Poor air quality can affect your breathing, your allergies, and cause anyone in your home that has asthma to have more frequent attacks as well.

Wash Your Bathroom Rugs

While every rug in your home needs to be washed on a regular basis, your bathroom rugs are the ones that get riddled with the most germs and bacteria. Bacteria, dust, mold, viruses, and more can be lurking in those rugs and you would never know it.

While vacuuming and shaking out the rugs is a good thing, it takes washing them at least once a month to keep them safe and healthy to have in your home.

Clean Your Shower Curtains

Believe it or not, your shower curtain can be one of the most bacteria-ridden surfaces in your home. A buildup of soap scum, bacteria, mold, and germs can have a major impact on the health of your family.

Take your shower curtain down about once a month, unless you notice a buildup on the curtain, and wash it in the washing machine with some laundry detergent and baking soda. You can also use vinegar or bleach to clean the shower curtain as well. It is also important to replace the shower curtain on a regular basis.

Clean Out Your Pantry and Kitchen Cabinets

While you might not realize your kitchen cabinets and pantry collect their own dust and food particles that invite pests to come into your home. You already know that pests carry diseases that can make you and your family very sick.

These areas also collect mold and bacteria that can make you sick as well. Cleaning out your kitchen cabinets and pantry on a monthly basis will keep these things at bay, your kitchen will be cleaner, and your family will be healthier and happier for it as well.

Simply take some soap and water, pull everything out of the cabinets and pantry, then wipe things down. This is also the perfect time to inspect items for expired tags and to take an inventory of what you need when you go to the store the next time.

These are just a few of the top ways that you can make your home healthier and happier for the family you love. From cleaning out the pantry to washing the rugs and from having a water softener service install a system to washing your shower curtains, your home will be clean and happy as well.
