We love beef. And I was so excited to learn that this season, beef retail prices are down nearly 10% from the highest prices in late 2014. What does that mean for us? Adding Beef To Your Holiday Table is more affordable! This is certainly welcomed news for families planning special holiday meals, like my family.
I have definitely been taking advantage of these lower prices as I shop for roasts, steaks, and ground beef. All necessities in planning my holiday meals! You can learn how the Beef Checkoff (which is the leading authority on all things beef), get the best deals on beef this holiday season and every day.
My family loves it when I grill up big fat steaks or cook a delicious, juicy roast. Not only does my home smell delicious but my family is always happy and full. It took me a while to get my roast just perfect. Sometimes it would turn out too dry and other times it didn’t have the taste I wanted it to have.
Take for instance, the delicious Maple Glazed Roast with Roasted Acorn Squash, you see pictured below! Believe it or not, this is easy to prepare before guests arrive, giving you the gift of time with family and friends!

When you do stock up on beef at your local grocery store, you will need to know how to handle and store it to keep it the freshest that you can. If it takes longer than 30 minutes to get your beef home, consider bringing a cooler to keep it in. When you are home, refrigerate or freeze your beef as soon as you are able to. Always keep beef packages on the lowest shelf in your in your refrigerator and keep it on a plate so the juices don’t get all over.
Thaw your steaks and roasts in the fridge, never at room temperature. I never knew this, did you?? Be sure to place the frozen package on a plate. A quick tip you can quickly thaw ground beef in your microwave (which I do all the time!) in five minutes or less. You can find out more great tips and important links online at Beef.
