What Are Succulents?
Succulent plants, or succulents, are plants that can store water in their thick, fleshy parts like leaves or stems. They thrive in an arid environment and are generally drought tolerant.
There are many types of succulents. The most popular succulent genera are; Echeveria, Aeonium, Aloe, Agave, Haworthia, Aeonium, Gasteria, Cactus, Crassula, Cotyledon, Kalanchoe, Sedum, Sempervivum, Senecio, Graptoveria, Adenia, Euphorbia, and Lithops.
Tips On How To Care For Your Succulents:
Watering
- Water your succulent every time the soil is completely dry.
- For beginners, they recommend watering your succulent once every 10-14 days.
Sunlight
- Most succulents require at least 4-6 hours of morning sunlight to grow.
- Colorful succulents often tolerate direct sun better than green succulents.
- Underexposure: Lack of sunlight often results in etiolation and leaves growing downwards.
- Overexposure: Succulents might get sunburned given too much sunlight.
Soil
- Succulents prefer gritty and well-drained soil.
- You can either use a cactus mix or prepare the potting medium by mixing organic and inorganic components.
Temperature
- The ideal temperature for succulents is from 60 to 80°F.
- Most succulents are drought-tolerant.
The Succulents Box has supported causes in the past, but the cause they are helping to support now is the fight against COVID-19. You can read more about that cause HERE.
I received 4 succulents in the mail. They were packaged very nicely and I think only one part of one of the succulents was broken. But, they looked amazing and were packaged with such care which I really appreciated. No pots were broken, etc.
They arrived at me quickly too. I think it was only 3 days before I received them. So that was fast. The succulents are so cute on my kitchen counter. I would like to get more for other areas of my home. I am very pleased with them!
If you are ordering a subscription box, you will get to choose how many boxes you want (one every month, etc.). Then you get to choose how many succulents you want in your box each month.
You can skip a month or add more succulents online the next month too. If the succulent box is a gift, you can add a message to be sent with the succulents.
There are SO many subscription boxes out there, so having a plant one, especially succulents, was really a fun idea! Love it! And, because of COVID and everyone staying at home, there has been a lot of people taking on new hobbies like buying plants and raising them!
Succulents are also a really fun way to inexpensively decorate your home. You can have them displayed in any room in your home as long as there is sunlight available to them. Plus, as I said above, they are pretty easy to take care of!
