Let’s get started!
Before we talk about How Many Grams Of Kratom you should take, let’s go over a few other things first! Like my personal story of using Kratom and some helpful tips about kratom!
I first want to say I realize that the use of Kratom is not for everyone. Just like a lot of things, everyone has a different reaction to certain things. So I totally get it if you don’t even want to try Kratom. It is a very personal choice and one that should not be taken lightly.
With that said Kratom has been a literal lifesaver for me. Why? Because I suffer from bad anxiety and I have had it my whole life! I also suffer from horrid neck pain and migraines.
Everything combined together and I was not a very happy person because I was always in pain. Being in pain is no fun and neither is having anxiety. Ugh.
I was told about Kratom about 4 years ago from a family member who was taking it for her pain and anxiety. I thought why not? It was helping her, so I decided to try it out for myself. I really did not have anything to lose.
What Is Kratom And Where Should I Buy It From?
Mitragyna Speciosa, better known as kratom, is a derivative of a tropical and indigenous evergreen tree in the coffee family native to Southeast Asia. It’s harvested from mature, fresh kratom tree leaves containing different psychoactive compounds.
It has been used as an herbal solution for minor ailments since at least the 19th century in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Myanmar. Due to its many benefits, it has been a popular botanical product among those interested in ethnobotanicals.
Since kratom is still largely unregulated in the U.S., you have to be careful about where you shop. Not all kratom sellers offer high-quality products, and there’s a lot of false and misleading advertising.
If you want the best product, you must find the best provider. At Kratora (where I shop for Kratom online), you can rest assured that your kratom is 100% pure and harvested from reliable, all-natural sources. Since 2013, Kratora has been providing customers worldwide with naturally sourced, high-quality botanical products.
Kratora is dedicated to creating relationships with its suppliers, guaranteeing that the products you receive are from only the most reputable growers. As a reliable kratom vendor, they consistently test their products and send each batch of kratom strain for independent testing in an FDA-compliant laboratory. I love this about Kratora!
As informed consumers, they understand you’re committed to top quality, pure, and organic kratom and other plant-based botanicals. At Kratora, they take pride in supporting farmers who use organic and sustainable growing methods in traditional practices.
At Kratora, they offer a variety of kratom in different forms. They offer kratom in powder form, capsules, gummies, and liquid kratom concentrates, as well as kratom extract and enhanced varieties included in their different variety packs.
You can check out a video that Kratora created explaining what you should look out for when buying Kratom.
What Products Go Good Or Compliment Kratom?
There are several different products that Kratora carries that go well with kratom and even at times, complement the kratom with the right amount. Below are the other products that Kratora carries:
Kratora offers the following non-kratom ethnobotanicals:
- Akuamma
- Blue lotus
- Kanna
- Kava kava
- Mitragyna hirsuta
- Muira puama
- Sakae naa
Different Strains Of Kratom (Type Of Kratom)
There are so many different strains of Kratom. You have to do your research. Each strain gives you different effects. It is important to note that the effects of kratom can vary depending on the strain and quality of the product (where you buy your Kratom. I don’t recommend buying Kratom at smoke shops because they are not pure kratom!)
But, in a nutshell, here is what some of the different strains help with:
Kratom can be categorized into different “veins” or strains — red, green, and white — (and gold/yellow which is rarely talked about but should be!!) which all vary in benefits.
*Red strain of kratom usually helps with pain and makes you feel relaxed. At least that is in my experience with using the reds. Of course, there are different strains of red Kratom too, but all in all the reds make me feel relaxed, even tired at times, and helps with my pain.
*White kratom helps with energy. It makes me full of energy and helps me get through my busy days. I love it! It also helps with my neck pain. This is one of my favorite strains because of the energy I get from it.
*Green Kratom strains usually help with pain management a bit. I don’t really take this strain often because it doesn’t really do anything for me. I also have not really given the greens a chance. I might have to try them out again because I have heard great things about this strain/color.
*Now, gold and yellow strains of Kratom are not really talked about and they don’t have a huge selection of this strain for some reason, at least where I have shopped.
But, this is my go-to strain because it not only uplifts my mood SO well, but it helps with any pain I have AND it makes me feel like I can do ANYTHING. The yellow strain is my all-time favorite strain EVER. I love it so much!
Popular Strains:
Bali Kratom is the most widely sold variety of kratom and a good choice if you are a new kratom user. Bali is known for its more relaxing and soothing aroma.
Maeng Da Kratom is a genetically modified variety of Thai Kratom. It is the strongest kratom strain available today. Users praise Maeng Da for its energizing and euphoric aroma as well as its stimulating effects.
Kratom Capsules Or Powder? Which Is Better?
There are different ways you can take Kratom. We will discuss them in this part of the post. I started out taking Kratom capsules because I never in a million years thought I could do what they call the ‘toss and wash‘ as my daily routine.
No way! Toss and wash is when you get Kratom in powder form put it on your tongue and then wash it down with water or juice.
Kratom has an earthy (very earthy, lol) and bitter taste to it. So, it doesn’t taste too pleasant! And, it is a very fine powder which makes tossing and washing easier, I think. But, at first, it wasn’t so easy for me…
So, for the longest time, I only took capsules. Which was fine but feeling the kratom effects when taking capsules just takes a bit longer to feel the relief from pain and anxiety. that is the only difference for me anyway.
And, you do have to take a few more capsules to get the effect you take when you do the toss and wash. I just had to figure out my proper kratom dosage so I had to play around with it for a little bit!
After about 2.5 years, I decided to give Kratom powder a try. I was sent little samples with each order when I ordered my capsules.
So, I had some powder I could test out to first see if toss and wash was something I could even do before committing to buying more powder. So, that was nice.
The first time I tried toss and wash I did it wrong and the powder went halfway down my throat and then up my nose!! No kidding, it did. I coughed and gagged and thought I was going to puke, but thankfully I never did!
I drank more water and soon the powder was where it belonged, in my body! But, thinking back it was funny because I could only imagine how I would have looked to people in the same room as me as that was happening lol. The kratom powder was flying out of my nose leaving a ‘smoke-like‘ effect in the air! Oh my goodness LOL.
Anyway, after the first time, I was obviously scared to try it again, but I really wanted to see if I could do it. I heard that the powder was way more effective than the capsules and worked twice as fast and as long too.
So that is why I tried a second time! The second time I used only a tiny amount of K powder on the back of my tongue. I then quickly drank some juice and washed it down fast. It worked! I was so happy! That is how taking powder kratom and doing toss and wash started out for me 🙂
Now that I am a pro, I can do it quickly and effortlessly! Yay! Many people ask how many grams of kratom should take each day.
Well for me, I take about 3 grams of kratom in the morning when I wake up and then again at around 2 pm and one last dose at around 7 or 8 pm.
For me, it is the perfect amount of Kratom to take each day to help ease my nerves and help with my headaches AND neck pain. It is the perfect amount for pain relief for me. I only need a small dose.
Some Kratom users might need a high dose and some (like me) might be okay with a low dose. It really just depends on your chronic pain levels the desired effects you are looking for and how many grams of kratom you need/want. Go low on your first dose.
There are so many kratom products out there, you really just have to do your research and find a company and strain that works best for you and your body.
Taking Kratom certainly beats having to take prescription medications each day. I would much rather take something that is natural than take something from a pharmacy!
Kratom Tea? (Recipe)
Yes, many many people make Kratom tea and sip it throughout the day. I tried making it one time and failed miserably! (Don’t ask!). So, I have not tried kratom tea. But, many people swear by it and make it daily.
Here is how you make the best Kratom Tea (I will try to make it again and keep you updated!):
To make the best kratom tea (or so I have read), you will need a few items:
*Kratom leaves (check out How Many Grams Of Kratom below)
*a pot to boil in
*ginger root
*A squeeze of lemon juice
*quart-sized Gladware screw-top containers
*filter material (such as cheesecloth),
*measuring cup (for afterward)
Directions:
Begin by measuring your desired amount of kratom leaves into a Gladware container
Add water and stir until the mixture reaches a viscosity similar to hot maple syrup
Let the mixture sit for an hour, then put it in the freezer
Once the mixture is frozen solid, let it thaw, stir it, and freeze it again
Thaw it again and proceed to cooking
Dump the kratom mixture into your pan and rinse the container into your pot. Make sure the container is clean.
Add a squeeze of lemon juice
Turn up the heat and let it boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer or just below and maintain it at a temperature between 180-200 degrees Fahrenheit
While the tea is heating, peel and slice ginger into 1-2mm thick slices and add them to the pot.
Set a timer for 45 minutes.
After 45 minutes:
Remove the pot from the heat and line the Gladware container with filter material
Spoon or carefully pour the tea into the filter and squeeze every possible drop of liquid from the filter (Discard the kratom sludge, as it is no longer useful) Be careful not to burn yourself during this step!
To calculate the number of doses, divide the amount of kratom used by the volume of liquid produced. Use the measuring cup to portion out doses.
It is recommended to refrigerate the tea and drink it cold. Avoid adding sugar or honey, as it can bring back the funky taste. Keep the tea refrigerated until use.
*Note: This whole process takes at least a full day to complete*
How Many Grams Of Kratom Should I Take?
Kratom Dosage Chart (Recommended Dose)
The question is: How much kratom powder should I take? The typical ideal kratom dose (kratom dosing) ranges from 2 to 8 grams and is a good starting point for new users.
A dose below 2 grams is classified as a microdose (lower doses), while a dose between 2 and 6 grams is considered low. A high dose is over 6 grams of kratom powder, and anything above 8 grams is regarded as heavy doses or higher doses. You just have to find your ‘sweet spot‘.
Those who are sensitive or seeking energizing benefits usually take a low dose, while individuals seeking pain relief opt for a high dose. It is recommended to start with a lower dose when using kratom for the first time, even if you have prior experience.
This is because the beneficial effects of kratom can vary depending on factors such as body weight, metabolic rate, tolerance, and the quality of the product.
Starting with a lower dose for first-time users allows you to assess your sensitivity to the substance and avoid an adverse or opposite effect.
After taking the initial dose, it is recommended to wait for at least 45 minutes to an hour before taking another dose. This allows you to assess the effects of the first dose and determine if you need to increase the dosage.
If you do choose to increase the dosage (how many grams of kratom), it is essential to do so gradually, increasing by no more than 0.5-1 grams at a time.
*Note: Remember to always consult with a healthcare professional before using kratom, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, serious medical condition, specific needs, or are taking any medications.
Things I Have Learned From Taking Kratom Daily
I have some helpful tips for you about Kratom before we start talking about how many grams of kratom should someone take.
I have been taking Kratom for about 4 years now (kratom veteran you could say!) and I am not addicted to it and I can do without it if I want to. Yes, I have stopped taking it to see if it would affect me and the only thing I noticed was restless legs for a day or so.
There was nothing else that happened. So, when people tell you it is highly addictive, I would think twice about that. Of course, everybody is DIFFERENT. I get that!
And, what works for me may not work for you. The benefits of kratom just outweigh anything bad, so I choose to take it daily. You obviously just have to do your own research and try it for yourself, if you want to.
I am a part of numerous groups on Facebook (just look up Kratom on Facebook) and all the groups I am in, talk highly of Kratom and how it has helped them so much.
Of course, there are also groups against Kratom, but that is to be expected. As I said, it is not for everyone, nothing is! Everyone is different. But, it works so well for me and I will never stop using it unless I have to. I love it!
Here are my personal tips for taking Kratom:
*If you have been taking it for a while, take a break. With anything, taking a small micro-break from something is always a good thing. I usually do this between switching strains. To help ‘reset‘ my body for the new strain.
*Switch up strains! If you have been taking a red, white, green, yellow, etc. strain for a while, switch strains. Your body can get used to taking a certain strain and that may lessen the effect it once gave you. It is always a good idea to switch strains from time to time. I do this probably every 2-3 months. My go-to strains or white, and yellow!
*Take Kratom with orange juice or something citrusy for a quicker, bolder effect. For some reason drinking orange juice when taking Kratom helps the kratom to work faster and better. It just does!
*Take Kratom on an empty stomach. It works better for me when I take Kratom on an empty stomach. I then will eat right after I take it.
*DRINK WATER!! I cannot stress this enough! Kratom is a directic and you NEED to drink tons of water each day or you will get dehydrated quickly! So, drink that water!!!!
*Toss and wash work faster (see what toss and wash is, above), and lasts longer for me than taking capsules. Plus, the capsules are big and get caught in my throat (yep, it happened to me!). I just like powder kratom SO much more and you get more for your money when you buy the powder. The powder lasts longer and the capsules seem to go more quickly.
*Do your OWN research on Kratom. Don’t listen to me! Find out everything you can about Kratom and make your own educated decision on whether Kratom is right for you. (DUH!)
*Don’t buy Kratom at your local smoke shop. Why? Because most of the time they are not pure!! You want pure kratom that is tested!! This is a naturally grown product that doesn’t need any ‘extra‘ fluff in it. So, be sure to buy your kratom from a trusted vendor!
The following States Do Not Sell Kratom
There are some states in the United States that don’t sell Kratom and I guess Kratom is illegal in the states listed below. It kind of makes me angry that it is okay to sell opioids on a regular basis and doctors prescribe them like they are okay for you.. but yet, Kratom, something natural, can get banned in some states.
Just like weed (which I don’t take and do not like), has been banned in different states too. They are NATURAL for goodness sake! Why ban something that is natural and that HELPS you??? Go figure…
*Kratom is banned in certain areas of California, Colorado, Florida, and Illinois. Some states have implemented KCPA regulations to regulate kratom use, while others have banned certain forms of the substance.
Kratom is illegal to buy, sell, possess, or use in the following states:
Arkansas
Rhode Island
Vermont
Wisconsin
My Little Kratom Rant!
I refuse, absolutely refuse to feel bad for taking something natural that helps with my aches, pains, and everyday life. I have heard SO many people talk badly about Kratom and it literally blows my mind.
Kratom has helped so so so many people get off of hard drugs, including people with opioid addiction, and people like me who have chronic pain and anxiety. Why not take this if it helps you? WHY not take something natural over something artificial, or synthetic???
I have also come across some medical professionals who have NO clue what Kratom even is! I have talked to several of my doctors and they had to look it up… ummmm really??
Then, they look it up without researching and build their assumptions about Kratom off of what they quickly searched on the internet. Nah, don’t do that! Just ridiculous! And, to think these ‘doctors‘ are giving ME medical doctor’s advice? Ugh.
I just can’t understand some people, I just can’t so I do not try to! To each their own but please don’t go around and say false things about something that helps people and is natural! That is my little rant!
Side Effects Of Kratom May Include…
Some common unwanted side effects or adverse effects of kratom use may include dehydration, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, headaches, loss of appetite, hair loss (only if you don’t drink enough water!!), constipation, nausea and vomiting, poor muscle coordination, runny nose, and sedation or fatigue. It may also cause liver failure. I always say this: less is more when it comes to Kratom. It really is!
