Make Your Own Skin Care Products At Home!

Whole Foods Market recently sent me some great products to use at home, to make my very own Skin Care Products At Home! I and my daughter had FUN in the kitchen!! Gosh, I love doing this kind of stuff! I like knowing exactly what ingredients I am putting on my body. Making my own skin care products at home, I DO know 🙂

diy bath and body products

I made a deliciously scented body scrub, with raw sugar, coconut oil, Essential Oil, and other oils. It turned out amazing, and I will be making more in a little jar, to take with me to the shower tonight. I slathered that scrub on my hands and arms and OH. MY. GOSH. my arms are sooooooo soft now. I can’t get over how soft they are.

This DIY body scrub is perfect for that dry, rough summer skin! Or for those of you that use sunless tanner! This will slough off those dead skin cells, leaving smooth, pretty skin and then the sunless tanner goes on totally smoothly and no streaks!!! Next? My legs!!!!

DIY Body Scrub Recipe (I altered this recipe a bit to make more :))

½ Tablespoon of Aura Cacia Sweet Almond Oil
½ Tablespoon of Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil
2-3 drops of Essential Oil (I used Lemon!)
1 Tablespoon of 365 Everyday Value® Turbinado Raw Sugar

Mix ingredients together (I used my hands to squish up the coconut oil and blend it better). Smear the mixture on your body. You can leave it on for as long as you want to. Rub into rougher areas, like your elbows, knees, ankles (etc..), and then rinse off and towel dry. No need to use soap to take off oil as that would defeat the purpose!

I will also be making a lip scrub, which is perfect for those summertime chapped lips! Here is that recipe (Make Your Own Skin Care Products At Home):

 Ingredients:

1 teaspoon 365 Everyday Value® Organic Coconut Oil

1 teaspoon of raw honey

1 ½ teaspoon 365 Everyday Value® Turbinado Raw Sugar

½ lemon

Method:

Mix ingredients in a small bowl to make a sugary paste. Use a small toothbrush (a baby’s toothbrush works well) to dip into a scrub. Use soft circular motions across your lips to exfoliate. Rinse with water. Don’t forget to apply lip balm afterward to seal in moisture and shine.

DIY Eye Makeup Remover Recipe:
Made with plant-based ingredients, this gentle eye makeup remover will dissolve even the most stubborn mascara.

Ingredients

1 small glass jar with a lid
3 tablespoons Aubrey Organics Pure Aloe Vera Gel
1 tablespoon Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil
1 tablespoon 365 Everyday Value® Organic Coconut Oil

Method
Warm a clean saucepan on very low heat for 60 seconds, then remove from heat and add the coconut oil. Stir until the oil is liquefied. Next, add all ingredients to a clean jar and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate to preserve freshness.
To use, scoop out a bit, rub between your hands to liquefy, and gently massage into the skin. Wipe away makeup and follow with your regular cleanser.

Love the idea of diy products. I agree with the others that dry lips would make me want to make the scrub.

I am as picky about what goes on my skin as I am about what foods I eat so I LOVE DYI skin care products so I can select exactly the right ingredients and know that there are no fillers! These all sound fabulous and I will have fun trying them. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! I’ve been wanting to learn more about essential oils. I’ve heard soo many great benefits. I have a baby with eczema who I think would benefit tremendously from them.

I love making my own beauty products, especially body and lip scrubs. I have made a coffee scrub before, using Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar. It took every fiber of my being not to eat the scrub, because it smelled so delicious! I’ll definitely have to use essential oils sometime, though. 🙂
