Car maintenance can really break the bank. Some people think that the only way to fix something in your car (or maintain it) is to take it immediately to a shop.
As you probably know, that’s the most expensive option available. If you are willing to get a little dirty, you can perform simple maintenance on your own car maintenance and save money!
If you’re already doing your own car washing and cleaning then it’s best that you also do your own car waxing at home and try a quick alternative to maintain your car’s shine and add extra protection on its paint using a spray-on wax product.
Best check out GrandPrixTimes wax spraying guide for more details. If you don’t have time to do your own maintenance, TucsonStreetCar can help you with that.
Do Your Own Car Maintenance And Save Money
What if you know next to nothing about cars? No problem! I don’t really know a lot either, but lucky for me, I have a little thing called a smartphone.
Jump onto YouTube, and type in the make, model, and year of your vehicle and the problem or task you’re trying to accomplish. Chances are, someone has made a video about it already.
Recently, I bought new windshield wipers. It might sound stupid, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to put them on. After watching a short video, I was able to fix it right away.
I’ve done the same thing with changing my spark plugs, changing my oil, changing a tire, and even changing my brake pads. If you added all of those maintenance tasks up at an auto shop, you’d be paying hundreds of dollars.
When I do them on my own, I feel good that I’ve saved money, and I feel pride in knowing that I was able to do it with my own resources.
As tempting as it might be, you don’t have to rely on others all the time when it comes to auto care- chances are, you can do it on your own!
However, leave the big stuff to the guys who work on cars if your car starts acting funny, the engine starts smoking, etc. Obviously those are things left for the professionals to fix!
Here are some car maintenance projects you can do yourself:
*Change the Battery
*Do Your Own Oil Change
*Change Your Spark Plugs
*Replace a Headlight or Taillight.
*Replace Your Windshield Wipers
*Replace Your Air Filter
*Fix a Chipped Windshield
